The Message Help
1From the very first day, we were there, taking it all in—we heard it with our own ears, saw it with our own eyes, verified it with our own hands.G3739G2258G575G746G3739G191G3739G3708G2257G3788G3739G2300G2532G2257G5495G5584G4012G3056G2222 2The Word of Life appeared right before our eyes; we saw it happen! And now we're telling you in most sober prose that what we witnessed was, incredibly, this: The infinite Life of God himself took shape before us.G2532G2222G5319G2532G3708G2532G3140G2532G518G5213G166G2222G3748G2258G4314G3962G2532G5319G2254 3We saw it, we heard it, and now we're telling you so you can experience it along with us, this experience of communion with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ.G3739G3708G2532G191G518G5213G2443G5210G2532G2192G2842G3326G2257G2532G2251G2842G1161G3326G3962G2532G3326G846G5207G2424G5547 4Our motive for writing is simply this: We want you to enjoy this, too. Your joy will double our joy!G2532G5023G1125G5213G2443G5216G5479G5600G4137

Walk in the Light

5This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there's not a trace of darkness in him.G3778G2532G2076G1860G3739G191G575G846G2532G312G5213G3754G2316G2076G5457G2532G1722G846G2076G3756G4653G3762 6If we claim that we experience a shared life with him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we're obviously lying through our teeth—we're not living what we claim.G1437G2036G3754G2192G2842G3326G846G2532G4043G1722G4655G5574G2532G4160G3756G225 7But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God's Son, purges all our sin.G1161G1437G4043G1722G5457G5613G846G2076G1722G5457G2192G2842G3326G240G2532G129G2424G5547G846G5207G2511G2248G575G3956G266 8If we claim that we're free of sin, we're only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense.G1437G2036G3754G2192G3756G266G4105G1438G2532G225G2076G3756G1722G2254 9On the other hand, if we admit our sins—make a clean breast of them—he won't let us down; he'll be true to himself. He'll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing.G1437G3670G2257G266G2076G4103G2532G1342G2443G863G2254G266G2532G2511G2248G575G3956G93 10If we claim that we've never sinned, we out-and-out contradict God—make a liar out of him. A claim like that only shows off our ignorance of God.G1437G2036G3754G264G3756G264G4160G846G5583G2532G846G3056G2076G3756G1722G2254
