14At that time Abijah son of Jeroboam became sick.H6256H29H1121H3379H2470
2Jeroboam said to his wife, "Go disguise yourself, so they won't know that you're Jeroboam's wife, and go to Shiloh. Ahijah the prophet is there; it was he who told about me becoming king over this people.H3379H559H802H6965H8138H3045H802H3379H1980H7887H281H5030H1696H4428H5971
3Take with you 10 loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy."H3947H3027H6235H3899H5350H1228H1706H935H5046H5288
4Jeroboam's wife did that: she went to Shiloh and arrived at Ahijah's house. Ahijah could not see; his gaze was fixed due to his age.H3379H802H6213H6965H3212H7887H935H1004H281H281H3201H7200H5869H6965H7869
5But the LORD had said to Ahijah, "Jeroboam's wife is coming soon to ask you about her son, for he is sick. You are to say such and such to her. When she arrives, she will be disguised."H3068H559H281H802H3379H935H1875H1697H1121H2470H2090H1696H935H5234
6When Ahijah heard the sound of her feet entering the door, he said, "Come in, wife of Jeroboam! Why are you disguised? I have bad news for you.H281H8085H6963H7272H935H6607H559H935H802H3379H5234H7971H7186
7Go tell Jeroboam, 'This is what the LORD God of Israel says: I raised you up from among the people, appointed you ruler over My people Israel,H3212H559H3379H559H3068H430H3478H3282H7311H8432H5971H5414H5057H5971H3478
8tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to you. But you were not like My servant David, who kept My commandments and followed Me with all of his heart, doing only what is right in My eyes.H7167H4467H7167H1004H1732H5414H5650H1732H8104H4687H1980H310H3824H6213H3477H5869
9You behaved more wickedly than all who were before you. In order to provoke Me, you have proceeded to make for yourself other gods and cast images, but you have flung Me behind your back.H6213H7489H6440H3212H6213H312H430H4541H3707H7993H310H1458
10Because of all this, I am about to bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam: I will eliminate all of Jeroboam's males, both slave and free, in Israel; I will sweep away the house of Jeroboam as one sweeps away dung until it is all gone!H935H7451H1004H3379H3772H3379H8366H7023H6113H5800H3478H1197H310H1004H3379H1197H1557H8552
11Anyone who belongs to Jeroboam and dies in the city, the dogs will eat, and anyone who dies in the field, the birds of the sky will eat, for the LORD has said it!'H4191H3379H5892H3611H398H4191H7704H5775H8064H398H3068H1696
12"As for you, get up and go to your house. When your feet enter the city, the boy will die.H6965H3212H1004H7272H935H5892H3206H4191
13All Israel will mourn for him and bury him, for this one alone out of Jeroboam's [sons] will come to the grave, because in him [alone] out of the house of Jeroboam something was found pleasing to the LORD God of Israel.H3478H5594H6912H3379H935H6913H4672H2896H1697H3068H430H3478H1004H3379
14The LORD will raise up for Himself a king over Israel, who will eliminate the house of Jeroboam. This is the day, yes, even today!H3068H6965H4428H3478H3772H1004H3379H3117
15For the LORD will strike Israel [and the people will shake] as a reed shakes in water. He will uproot Israel from this good soil that He gave to their forefathers. He will scatter them beyond the Euphrates because they made their Asherah poles, provoking the LORD.H3068H5221H3478H7070H5110H4325H5428H3478H2896H127H5414H1H2219H5676H5104H6213H842H3068H3707
16He will give up Israel, because of Jeroboam's sins that he committed and caused Israel to commit."H5414H3478H5414H1558H2403H3379H2398H3478H2398
17Then Jeroboam's wife got up and left and went to Tirzah. As she was crossing the threshold of the house, the boy died.H3379H802H6965H3212H935H8656H935H5592H1004H5288H4191
18He was buried, and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD He had spoken through His servant Ahijah the prophet.H6912H3478H5594H1697H3068H1696H3027H5650H281H5030
19As for the rest of the events of Jeroboam's [reign], how he waged war and how he reigned, note that they are written about in the Historical Record of Israel's Kings.H3499H1697H3379H3898H4427H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3478
20The length of Jeroboam's reign was 22 years. He rested with his fathers, and his son Nadab became king in his place.H3117H3379H4427H8147H6242H8141H7901H1H5070H1121H4427
21Now Rehoboam, Solomon's son, reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was 41 years old when he became king; he reigned 17 years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel to put His name. Rehoboam's mother's name was Naamah the Ammonite.H7346H1121H8010H4427H3063H7346H705H259H8141H1121H4427H4427H7651H6240H8141H3389H5892H3068H977H7626H3478H7760H8034H517H8034H5279H5985
22Judah did what was evil in the LORD's eyes. They provoked Him to jealous anger more than all that their ancestors had done with the sins they committed.H3063H6213H7451H5869H3068H7065H2403H2398H1H6213
23They also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree;H1129H1116H4676H842H1364H1389H7488H6086
24there were even male shrine prostitutes in the land. They imitated all the abominations of the nations the LORD had dispossessed before the Israelites.H6945H776H6213H8441H1471H3068H3423H6440H1121H3478
25In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt went to war against Jerusalem.H2549H8141H4428H7346H7895H4428H4714H5927H3389
26He seized the treasuries of the LORD's temple and the treasuries of the royal palace. He took everything. He took all the gold shields that Solomon had made.H3947H214H1004H3068H214H4428H1004H3947H3947H4043H2091H8010H6213
27King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place and committed them into the care of the captains of the royal escortswho guarded the entrance to the king's palace.H4428H7346H6213H5178H4043H6485H3027H8269H7323H8104H6607H4428H1004
28Whenever the king entered the LORD's temple, the royal escorts would carry the shields, then they would take them back to the royal escorts' armory.H1767H4428H935H1004H3068H7323H5375H7725H7323H8372
29The rest of the events of Rehoboam's [reign], along with all his accomplishments, are written about in the Historical Record of Judah's Kings.H3499H1697H7346H6213H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3063
30There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam throughout their reigns.H4421H7346H3379H3117
31Rehoboam rested with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. His mother's name was Naamah the Ammonite. His son Abijam became king in his place.H7346H7901H1H6912H1H5892H1732H517H8034H5279H5985H38H1121H4427
