Abijam Reigns over Judah

15IN THE eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah.H8083H6240H8141H4428H3379H1121H5028H4427H38H3063 2He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother was Maacah (Micaiah) daughter [granddaughter] of Abishalom (Absalom).H7969H8141H4427H3389H517H8034H4601H1323H53 3He walked in all the sins of his father [Rehoboam] before him; and his heart was not blameless with the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father [forefather].H3212H2403H1H6213H6440H3824H8003H3068H430H3824H1732H1 4Nevertheless, for David's sake the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, setting up his son after him and establishing Jerusalem,H1732H3068H430H5414H5216H3389H6965H1121H310H5975H3389 5Because David did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and turned not aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.H1732H6213H3477H5869H3068H5493H6680H3117H2416H1697H223H2850 6There was war between [Abijam's father] Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of [Rehoboam's] life.H4421H7346H3379H3117H2416 7The rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.H3499H1697H38H6213H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3063H4421H38H3379

Asa Succeeds Abijam

8Abijam slept with his fathers and they buried him in the City of David. Asa his son reigned in his stead.H38H7901H1H6912H5892H1732H609H1121H4427 9In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah.H6242H8141H3379H4428H3478H4427H609H3063 10Forty-one years he reigned in Jerusalem. His mother was [also named] Maacah (Micaiah) daughter of Abishalom (Absalom).H705H259H8141H4427H3389H517H8034H4601H1323H53 11And Asa did right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father [forefather].H609H6213H3477H5869H3068H1732H1 12He put away the sodomites (male cult prostitutes) out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers [Solomon, Rehoboam, and Abijam] had made {or} promoted.H5674H6945H776H5493H1544H1H6213 13Also Maacah his mother he removed from being queen mother, because she had an image made for [the goddess] Asherah. Asa destroyed her image, burning it by the brook Kidron.H4601H517H5493H1377H6213H4656H842H609H3772H4656H8313H5158H6939 14But the high places were not removed. Yet Asa's heart was blameless with the Lord all his days.H1116H5493H609H3824H8003H3068H3117 15He brought the things which his father had dedicated and the things which he himself had dedicated into the house of the Lord--silver, gold, and vessels.H935H6944H1H6944H6944H1004H3068H3701H2091H3627 16There was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.H4421H609H1201H4428H3478H3117 17Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and built up Ramah, that he might allow no one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.H1201H4428H3478H5927H3063H1129H7414H5414H3318H935H609H4428H3063 18Then Asa took all the silver and gold left in the treasuries of the house of the Lord and of the king's house and delivered them into the hands of his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt at Damascus, saying,H609H3947H3701H2091H3498H214H1004H3068H214H4428H1004H5414H3027H5650H4428H609H7971H1130H1121H2886H1121H2383H4428H758H3427H1834H559 19Let there be a league between me and you, as was between my father and your father. Behold, I am sending you a present of silver and gold; go, break your league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.H1285H1H1H7971H7810H3701H2091H3212H6565H1285H1201H4428H3478H5927 20So Ben-hadad hearkened to king Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, Dan, Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.H1130H8085H4428H609H7971H8269H2428H5892H3478H5221H5859H1835H62H3672H776H5321 21When Baasha heard of it, he quit building up Ramah and dwelt in Tirzah.H1201H8085H2308H1129H7414H3427H8656 22Then King Asa made a proclamation to all Judah--none was exempted. They carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building. And King Asa built up with them Geba of Benjamin, and also Mizpah.H4428H609H8085H3063H5355H5375H68H7414H6086H1201H1129H4428H609H1129H1387H1144H4709

Jehoshaphat Succeeds Asa

23The rest of all the acts of Asa, all his might, all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.H3499H1697H609H1369H6213H5892H1129H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3063H6256H2209H2470H7272 24Asa slept with his fathers and was buried with them in the city of David his father. Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.H609H7901H1H6912H1H5892H1732H1H3092H1121H4427

Nadab, then Baasha, Rules over Israel

25Nadab son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned two years.H5070H1121H3379H4427H3478H8147H8141H609H4428H3063H4427H3478H8147H8141 26He did evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, with which he made Israel sin.H6213H7451H5869H3068H3212H1870H1H2403H3478H2398 27Baasha son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against Nadab, and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.H1201H1121H281H1004H3485H7194H1201H5221H1405H6430H5070H3478H6696H1405 28In the third year of Asa king of Judah Baasha slew Nadab and reigned in his stead.H7969H8141H609H4428H3063H1201H4191H4427 29As soon as he was king, Baasha killed all the household of Jeroboam. He left to [it] not one who breathed, until he had destroyed it, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by His servant Ahijah the Shilonite--H4427H5221H1004H3379H7604H3379H5397H8045H1697H3068H1696H3027H5650H281H7888 30Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned and by which he made Israel to sin, and because of his provocation of the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger.H2403H3379H2398H3478H2398H3708H3068H430H3478H3707 31The rest of Nadab's acts, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?H3499H1697H5070H6213H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3478
