22For three years there was no war between Aram and Israel.H3427H7969H8141H4421H758H3478
2But in the third year Jehoshaphat king of Judah went down to see the king of Israel.H7992H8141H3092H4428H3063H3381H4428H3478
3The king of Israel had said to his officials, "Don't you know that Ramoth Gilead belongs to us and yet we are doing nothing to retake it from the king of Aram?"H4428H3478H559H5650H3045H7433H1568H2814H3947H3027H4428H758
4So he asked Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to fight against Ramoth Gilead?" Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."H559H3092H3212H4421H7433H1568H3092H559H4428H3478H3644H5971H5971H5483H5483
5But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, "First seek the counsel of the LORD."H3092H559H4428H3478H1875H1697H3068H3117
6So the king of Israel brought together the prophets—about four hundred men—and asked them, "Shall I go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" "Go," they answered, "for the Lord will give it into the king's hand."H4428H3478H6908H5030H6908H702H3967H376H559H3212H7433H1568H4421H2308H559H5927H136H5414H3027H4428
7But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no longer a prophet of the LORD here whom we can inquire of?"H3092H559H5030H3068H5750H1875
8The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, "There is still one through whom we can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah." "The king should not say such a thing," Jehoshaphat replied.H4428H3478H559H3092H259H376H4321H1121H3229H1875H3068H8130H5012H2896H7451H3092H559H4428H559
9So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, "Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once."H4428H3478H7121H259H5631H559H4116H4321H1121H3229
10Dressed in their royal robes, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.H4428H3478H3092H4428H3063H3427H376H3678H3847H899H1637H6607H8179H8111H5030H5012H6440
11Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns and he declared, "This is what the LORD says: 'With these you will gore the Arameans until they are destroyed.'"H6667H1121H3668H6213H7161H1270H559H559H3068H5055H758H3615
12All the other prophets were prophesying the same thing. "Attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious," they said, "for the LORD will give it into the king's hand."H5030H5012H559H5927H7433H1568H6743H3068H5414H4428H3027
13The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, "Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably."H4397H1980H7121H4321H1696H559H1697H5030H2896H4428H259H6310H1697H1697H259H1696H2896
14But Micaiah said, "As surely as the LORD lives, I can tell him only what the LORD tells me."H4321H559H3068H2416H3068H559H1696
15When he arrived, the king asked him, "Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or not?" "Attack and be victorious," he answered, "for the LORD will give it into the king's hand."H935H4428H4428H559H4321H3212H7433H1568H4421H2308H559H5927H6743H3068H5414H3027H4428
16The king said to him, "How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"H4428H559H6471H7650H1696H571H8034H3068
17Then Micaiah answered, "I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and the LORD said, 'These people have no master. Let each one go home in peace.' "H559H7200H3478H6327H2022H6629H7462H3068H559H113H7725H376H1004H7965
18The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Didn't I tell you that he never prophesies anything good about me, but only bad?"H4428H3478H559H3092H559H5012H2896H7451
19Micaiah continued, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left.H559H8085H1697H3068H7200H3068H3427H3678H6635H8064H5975H3225H8040
20And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' "One suggested this, and another that.H3068H559H6601H256H5927H5307H7433H1568H559H3541H559H3541
21Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.'H3318H7307H5975H6440H3068H559H6601
22" 'By what means?' the LORD asked. " 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said. " 'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'H3068H559H559H3318H8267H7307H6310H5030H559H6601H3201H3318H6213
23"So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you."H3068H5414H8267H7307H6310H5030H3068H1696H7451
24Then Zedekiah son of Kenaanah went up and slapped Micaiah in the face. "Which way did the spirit from the LORD go when he went from me to speak to you?" he asked.H6667H1121H3668H5066H5221H4321H3895H559H335H5674H7307H3068H1696
25Micaiah replied, "You will find out on the day you go to hide in an inner room."H4321H559H7200H3117H935H2315H2315H2247
26The king of Israel then ordered, "Take Micaiah and send him back to Amon the ruler of the city and to Joash the king's sonH4428H3478H559H3947H4321H7725H526H8269H5892H3101H4428H1121
27and say, 'This is what the king says: Put this fellow in prison and give him nothing but bread and water until I return safely.' "H559H559H4428H7760H1004H3608H398H3899H3906H4325H3906H935H7965
28Micaiah declared, "If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me." Then he added, "Mark my words, all you people!"H4321H559H7725H7725H7965H3068H1696H559H8085H5971
29So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.H4428H3478H3092H4428H3063H5927H7433H1568
30The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will enter the battle in disguise, but you wear your royal robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.H4428H3478H559H3092H2664H935H4421H3847H899H4428H3478H2664H935H4421
31Now the king of Aram had ordered his thirty-two chariot commanders, "Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel."H4428H758H6680H7970H8147H8269H7393H559H3898H6996H1419H4428H3478
32When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, "Surely this is the king of Israel." So they turned to attack him, but when Jehoshaphat cried out,H8269H7393H7200H3092H559H4428H3478H5493H3898H3092H2199
33the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel and stopped pursuing him.H8269H7393H7200H4428H3478H7725H310
34But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the breastplate and the scale armor. The king told his chariot driver, "Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I've been wounded."H376H4900H7198H8537H5221H4428H3478H1694H8302H559H7395H2015H3027H3318H4264H2470
35All day long the battle raged, and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans. The blood from his wound ran onto the floor of the chariot, and that evening he died.H4421H5927H3117H4428H5975H4818H5227H758H4191H6153H1818H3332H4347H2436H7393
36As the sun was setting, a cry spread through the army: "Everyone to your own town; everyone to your land!"H5674H7440H4264H935H8121H559H376H5892H376H776
37So the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried him there.H4428H4191H935H8111H6912H4428H8111
38They washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria (where the prostitutes bathed), and the dogs licked up his blood, as the word of the LORD had declared.H7857H7393H1295H8111H3611H3952H1818H7364H2185H1697H3068H1696
39As for the other events of Ahab's reign, including all he did, the palace he built and inlaid with ivory, and the cities he fortified, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?H3499H1697H256H6213H8127H1004H1129H5892H1129H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3478
40Ahab rested with his ancestors. And Ahaziah his son succeeded him as king.H256H7901H1H274H1121H4427
41Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.H3092H1121H609H4427H3063H702H8141H256H4428H3478
42Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-five years. His mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.H3092H7970H2568H8141H1121H4427H4427H6242H2568H8141H3389H517H8034H5806H1323H7977
43In everything he followed the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD. The high places, however, were not removed, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there. *H3212H1870H609H1H5493H6213H3477H5869H3068H1116H5493H5971H2076H6999H1116
44Jehoshaphat was also at peace with the king of Israel.H3092H7999H4428H3478
45As for the other events of Jehoshaphat's reign, the things he achieved and his military exploits, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?H3499H1697H3092H1369H6213H3898H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3063
46He rid the land of the rest of the male shrine prostitutes who remained there even after the reign of his father Asa.H3499H6945H7604H3117H1H609H1197H776
47There was then no king in Edom; a provincial governor ruled.H4428H123H5324H4428
48Now Jehoshaphat built a fleet of trading ships to go to Ophir for gold, but they never set sail—they were wrecked at Ezion Geber.H3092H6213H6240H591H8659H3212H211H2091H1980H591H7665H6100
49At that time Ahaziah son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my men sail with yours," but Jehoshaphat refused.H559H274H1121H256H3092H5650H3212H5650H591H3092H14
50Then Jehoshaphat rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David his father. And Jehoram his son succeeded him as king.H3092H7901H1H6912H1H5892H1732H1H3088H1121H4427
51Ahaziah son of Ahab became king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years.H274H1121H256H4427H3478H8111H7651H6240H8141H3092H4428H3063H4427H8141H3478
52He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, because he followed the ways of his father and mother and of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.H6213H7451H5869H3068H3212H1870H1H1870H517H1870H3379H1121H5028H3478H2398
53He served and worshiped Baal and aroused the anger of the LORD, the God of Israel, just as his father had done.H5647H1168H7812H3707H3068H430H3478H1H6213
