Micaiah Warns Ahab

22Now three years passed without war between Syria and Israel.H3427H7969H8141H4421H758H3478 2Then it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to visit the king of Israel.H7992H8141H3092H4428H3063H3381H4428H3478 3And the king of Israel said to his servants, "Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?"H4428H3478H559H5650H3045H7433H1568H2814H3947H3027H4428H758 4So he said to Jehoshaphat, "Will you go with me to fight at Ramoth Gilead?" Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."H559H3092H3212H4421H7433H1568H3092H559H4428H3478H3644H5971H5971H5483H5483 5Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire for the word of the LORD today."H3092H559H4428H3478H1875H1697H3068H3117 6Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain?" So they said, "Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king."H4428H3478H6908H5030H6908H702H3967H376H559H3212H7433H1568H4421H2308H559H5927H136H5414H3027H4428 7And Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of Him?"H3092H559H5030H3068H5750H1875 8So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil." And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say such things!"H4428H3478H559H3092H259H376H4321H1121H3229H1875H3068H8130H5012H2896H7451H3092H559H4428H559 9Then the king of Israel called an officer and said, "Bring Micaiah the son of Imlah quickly!"H4428H3478H7121H259H5631H559H4116H4321H1121H3229 10The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, having put on their robes, sat each on his throne, at a threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.H4428H3478H3092H4428H3063H3427H376H3678H3847H899H1637H6607H8179H8111H5030H5012H6440 11Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made horns of iron for himself; and he said, "Thus says the LORD: 'With these you shall gore the Syrians until they are destroyed.'"H6667H1121H3668H6213H7161H1270H559H559H3068H5055H758H3615 12And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, "Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper, for the LORD will deliver it into the king's hand."H5030H5012H559H5927H7433H1568H6743H3068H5414H4428H3027 13Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, "Now listen, the words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Please, let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement."H4397H1980H7121H4321H1696H559H1697H5030H2896H4428H259H6310H1697H1697H259H1696H2896 14And Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, whatever the LORD says to me, that I will speak."H4321H559H3068H2416H3068H559H1696 15Then he came to the king; and the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall we refrain?" And he answered him, "Go and prosper, for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king!"H935H4428H4428H559H4321H3212H7433H1568H4421H2308H559H5927H6743H3068H5414H3027H4428 16So the king said to him, "How many times shall I make you swear that you tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"H4428H559H6471H7650H1696H571H8034H3068 17Then he said, "I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the LORD said, 'These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.'"H559H7200H3478H6327H2022H6629H7462H3068H559H113H7725H376H1004H7965 18And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"H4428H3478H559H3092H559H5012H2896H7451 19Then Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left.H559H8085H1697H3068H7200H3068H3427H3678H6635H8064H5975H3225H8040 20"And the LORD said, 'Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?' So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner.H3068H559H6601H256H5927H5307H7433H1568H559H3541H559H3541 21"Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will persuade him.'H3318H7307H5975H6440H3068H559H6601 22"The LORD said to him, 'In what way?' So he said, 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And the LORD said, 'You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.'H3068H559H559H3318H8267H7307H6310H5030H559H6601H3201H3318H6213 23"Therefore look! The LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has declared disaster against you."H3068H5414H8267H7307H6310H5030H3068H1696H7451 24Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way did the spirit from the LORD go from me to speak to you?"H6667H1121H3668H5066H5221H4321H3895H559H335H5674H7307H3068H1696 25And Micaiah said, "Indeed, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!"H4321H559H7200H3117H935H2315H2315H2247 26So the king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son;H4428H3478H559H3947H4321H7725H526H8269H5892H3101H4428H1121 27"and say, 'Thus says the king: "Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace."'"H559H559H4428H7760H1004H3608H398H3899H3906H4325H3906H935H7965 28But Micaiah said, "If you ever return in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me." And he said, "Take heed, all you people!"H4321H559H7725H7725H7965H3068H1696H559H8085H5971

Ahab Dies in Battle

29So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.H4428H3478H3092H4428H3063H5927H7433H1568 30And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you put on your robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.H4428H3478H559H3092H2664H935H4421H3847H899H4428H3478H2664H935H4421 31Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, "Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel."H4428H758H6680H7970H8147H8269H7393H559H3898H6996H1419H4428H3478 32So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "Surely it is the king of Israel!" Therefore they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out.H8269H7393H7200H3092H559H4428H3478H5493H3898H3092H2199 33And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.H8269H7393H7200H4428H3478H7725H310 34Now a certain man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, "Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am wounded."H376H4900H7198H8537H5221H4428H3478H1694H8302H559H7395H2015H3027H3318H4264H2470 35The battle increased that day; and the king was propped up in his chariot, facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out from the wound onto the floor of the chariot.H4421H5927H3117H4428H5975H4818H5227H758H4191H6153H1818H3332H4347H2436H7393 36Then, as the sun was going down, a shout went throughout the army, saying, "Every man to his city, and every man to his own country!"H5674H7440H4264H935H8121H559H376H5892H376H776 37So the king died, and was brought to Samaria. And they buried the king in Samaria.H4428H4191H935H8111H6912H4428H8111 38Then someone washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood while the harlots bathed, according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken.H7857H7393H1295H8111H3611H3952H1818H7364H2185H1697H3068H1696 39Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, the ivory house which he built and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?H3499H1697H256H6213H8127H1004H1129H5892H1129H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3478 40So Ahab rested with his fathers. Then Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.H256H7901H1H274H1121H4427

41Jehoshaphat the son of Asa had become king over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.H3092H1121H609H4427H3063H702H8141H256H4428H3478 42Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.H3092H7970H2568H8141H1121H4427H4427H6242H2568H8141H3389H517H8034H5806H1323H7977 43And he walked in all the ways of his father Asa. He did not turn aside from them, doing what was right in the eyes of the LORD. Nevertheless the high places were not taken away, for the people offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.H3212H1870H609H1H5493H6213H3477H5869H3068H1116H5493H5971H2076H6999H1116 44Also Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.H3092H7999H4428H3478 45Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, the might that he showed, and how he made war, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?H3499H1697H3092H1369H6213H3898H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3063 46And the rest of the perverted persons, who remained in the days of his father Asa, he banished from the land.H3499H6945H7604H3117H1H609H1197H776 47There was then no king in Edom, only a deputy of the king.H4428H123H5324H4428 48Jehoshaphat made merchant ships to go to Ophir for gold; but they never sailed, for the ships were wrecked at Ezion Geber.H3092H6213H6240H591H8659H3212H211H2091H1980H591H7665H6100 49Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my servants go with your servants in the ships." But Jehoshaphat would not.H559H274H1121H256H3092H5650H3212H5650H591H3092H14 50And Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David his father. Then Jehoram his son reigned in his place.H3092H7901H1H6912H1H5892H1732H1H3088H1121H4427

Ahaziah Reigns in Israel

51Ahaziah the son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.H274H1121H256H4427H3478H8111H7651H6240H8141H3092H4428H3063H4427H8141H3478 52He did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin;H6213H7451H5869H3068H3212H1870H1H1870H517H1870H3379H1121H5028H3478H2398 53for he served Baal and worshiped him, and provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger, according to all that his father had done.H5647H1168H7812H3707H3068H430H3478H1H6213
