19Saul told his son Jonathan and all the attendants to kill David. But Jonathan had taken a great liking to DavidH7586H1696H3129H1121H5650H4191H1732 2and warned him, "My father Saul is looking for a chance to kill you. Be on your guard tomorrow morning; go into hiding and stay there.H3083H7586H1121H2654H3966H1732H3083H5046H1732H559H7586H1H1245H4191H8104H1242H3427H5643H2244 3I will go out and stand with my father in the field where you are. I'll speak to him about you and will tell you what I find out."H3318H5975H3027H1H7704H1696H1H4100H7200H5046 4Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, "Let not the king do wrong to his servant David; he has not wronged you, and what he has done has benefited you greatly.H3083H1696H2896H1732H7586H1H559H4428H2398H5650H1732H2398H4639H3966H2896 5He took his life in his hands when he killed the Philistine. The LORD won a great victory for all Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then would you do wrong to an innocent man like David by killing him for no reason?"H7760H5315H3709H5221H6430H3068H6213H1419H8668H3478H7200H8055H2398H5355H1818H4191H1732H2600 6Saul listened to Jonathan and took this oath: "As surely as the LORD lives, David will not be put to death."H7586H8085H6963H3083H7586H7650H3068H2416H518H4191 7So Jonathan called David and told him the whole conversation. He brought him to Saul, and David was with Saul as before.H3083H7121H1732H3083H5046H1697H3083H935H1732H7586H6440H865H8032 8Once more war broke out, and David went out and fought the Philistines. He struck them with such force that they fled before him.H4421H3254H1732H3318H3898H6430H5221H1419H4347H5127H6440 9But an evil spirit from the LORD came on Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand. While David was playing the lyre,H7451H7307H3068H7586H3427H1004H2595H3027H1732H5059H3027 10Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear, but David eluded him as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David made good his escape.H7586H1245H5221H1732H7023H2595H6362H7586H6440H5221H2595H7023H1732H5127H4422H3915 11Saul sent men to David's house to watch it and to kill him in the morning. But Michal, David's wife, warned him, "If you don't run for your life tonight, tomorrow you'll be killed."H7586H7971H4397H1732H1004H8104H4191H1242H4324H1732H802H5046H559H4422H5315H3915H4279H4191 12So Michal let David down through a window, and he fled and escaped.H4324H3381H1732H3381H2474H3212H1272H4422 13Then Michal took an idol and laid it on the bed, covering it with a garment and putting some goats' hair at the head.H4324H3947H8655H7760H4296H7760H3523H5795H4763H3680H899 14When Saul sent the men to capture David, Michal said, "He is ill."H7586H7971H4397H3947H1732H559H2470 15Then Saul sent the men back to see David and told them, "Bring him up to me in his bed so that I may kill him."H7586H7971H4397H7200H1732H559H5927H4296H4191 16But when the men entered, there was the idol in the bed, and at the head was some goats' hair.H4397H935H8655H4296H3523H5795H4763 17Saul said to Michal, "Why did you deceive me like this and send my enemy away so that he escaped?" Michal told him, "He said to me, 'Let me get away. Why should I kill you?' "H7586H559H4324H7411H7971H341H4422H4324H559H7586H559H7971H4191 18When David had fled and made his escape, he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.H1732H1272H4422H935H8050H7414H5046H7586H6213H8050H3212H3427H5121 19Word came to Saul: "David is in Naioth at Ramah";H5046H7586H559H1732H5121H7414 20so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came on Saul's men, and they also prophesied.H7586H7971H4397H3947H1732H7200H3862H5030H5012H8050H5975H5324H7307H430H4397H7586H5012 21Saul was told about it, and he sent more men, and they prophesied too. Saul sent men a third time, and they also prophesied.H5046H7586H7971H312H4397H5012H7586H7971H4397H3254H7992H5012 22Finally, he himself left for Ramah and went to the great cistern at Seku. And he asked, "Where are Samuel and David?" "Over in Naioth at Ramah," they said.H3212H7414H935H1419H953H7906H7592H559H375H8050H1732H559H5121H7414 23So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even on him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth.H3212H5121H7414H7307H430H3212H1980H5012H935H5121H7414 24He stripped off his garments, and he too prophesied in Samuel's presence. He lay naked all that day and all that night. This is why people say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"H6584H899H1571H5012H6440H8050H5307H6174H3117H3915H559H7586H5030
