Jonathan Intercedes for David

19Saul told his son Jonathan and all his officials to kill David, but Saul's son Jonathan was very fond of David.H7586H1696H3129H1121H5650H4191H1732 2So Jonathan told David, "My father Saul is trying to kill you. In the morning be careful and stay hidden in a secret place.H3083H7586H1121H2654H3966H1732H3083H5046H1732H559H7586H1H1245H4191H8104H1242H3427H5643H2244 3I'll go out and stand by my father in the field where you are. I'll speak to my father about you. If I find out what he intends to do, I'll tell you."H3318H5975H3027H1H7704H1696H1H4100H7200H5046 4Jonathan spoke to his father Saul favorably about David. "The king shouldn't wrong his servant David because he has not wronged you and because what he has done has been very beneficial for you.H3083H1696H2896H1732H7586H1H559H4428H2398H5650H1732H2398H4639H3966H2896 5He risked his life and struck down the Philistine, and the Lord brought about a spectacular deliverance for all Israel. You saw that and rejoiced, so why would you do wrong and shed innocent blood by killing David without cause?"H7760H5315H3709H5221H6430H3068H6213H1419H8668H3478H7200H8055H2398H5355H1818H4191H1732H2600 6Saul listened to Jonathan, and swore by the life of the Lord that David would not be killed.H7586H8085H6963H3083H7586H7650H3068H2416H518H4191 7Jonathan summoned David and told him all this. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul, and David served him as before.5H3083H7121H1732H3083H5046H1697H3083H935H1732H7586H6440H865H8032 8The war continued and David went out to fight against the Philistines. He thoroughly defeated them, and they fled before David.H4421H3254H1732H3318H3898H6430H5221H1419H4347H5127H6440 9The evil spirit from the Lord attacked Saul while he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand and David was playing the lyre.H7451H7307H3068H7586H3427H1004H2595H3027H1732H5059H3027 10Saul tried to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he jumped away from Saul and the spear stuck in the wall. That night David escaped and fled.H7586H1245H5221H1732H7023H2595H6362H7586H6440H5221H2595H7023H1732H5127H4422H3915 11Saul sent messengers to David's house to watch him so they could kill him in the morning. David's wife, Michal, said to him, "If you don't escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you'll be put to death."H7586H7971H4397H1732H1004H8104H4191H1242H4324H1732H802H5046H559H4422H5315H3915H4279H4191 12So Michal let David down through the window, and he escaped and fled.H4324H3381H1732H3381H2474H3212H1272H4422 13Then Michal took the household idol and laid it on the bed with a cover of goat hair placed at its head. Then she covered it with clothes.H4324H3947H8655H7760H4296H7760H3523H5795H4763H3680H899 14When Saul sent the messengers to take David, Michal said, "He's sick."H7586H7971H4397H3947H1732H559H2470 15Then Saul sent messengers to check on David. He told them, "Bring him to me on the bed so I may kill him."H7586H7971H4397H7200H1732H559H5927H4296H4191 16The messengers went in, and there was the household idol in the bed with the cover of goat hair at its head!19H4397H935H8655H4296H3523H5795H4763 17Then Saul said to Michal, "Why did you deceive me like this and let my enemy go so he could escape?" Michal said to Saul, "He said to me, 'Let me go or I'll kill you!'"H7586H559H4324H7411H7971H341H4422H4324H559H7586H559H7971H4191 18David escaped and fled. He came to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went and stayed at Naioth.H1732H1272H4422H935H8050H7414H5046H7586H6213H8050H3212H3427H5121 19It was reported to Saul saying, "David is at Naioth in Ramah right now."H5046H7586H559H1732H5121H7414 20Saul sent messengers to take David, and they saw a group of prophets caught up in prophetic ecstasy, with Samuel standing beside them leading them. Then the Spirit of God came on Saul's messengers, and they also were caught up in prophetic ecstasy.19H7586H7971H4397H3947H1732H7200H3862H5030H5012H8050H5975H5324H7307H430H4397H7586H5012 21They reported this to Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also were caught up in prophetic ecstasy.H5046H7586H7971H312H4397H5012H7586H7971H4397H3254H7992H5012 22Then Saul himself went to Ramah, and he arrived at the large well that is in Secu. He asked, "Where are Samuel and David?" Someone replied, "They're at Naioth in Ramah."H3212H7414H935H1419H953H7906H7592H559H375H8050H1732H559H5121H7414 23Saul went to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God came on him also. He continued in prophetic ecstasy until he came to Naioth in Ramah.H3212H5121H7414H7307H430H3212H1980H5012H935H5121H7414 24He also removed his clothes and was caught up in prophetic ecstasy right in front of Samuel! He fell down naked and remained there all that day and all night. That is why people say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"H6584H899H1571H5012H6440H8050H5307H6174H3117H3915H559H7586H5030
