Saul and His Sons Slain

31Now the Philistines were fighting against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines and fell slain on Mount Gilboa.H6430H3898H3478H582H3478H5127H6440H6430H5307H2491H2022H1533 2And the Philistines overtook Saul and his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan and Abinadab and Malchi-shua the sons of Saul.H6430H1692H7586H1121H6430H5221H3083H41H4444H7586H1121 3And the battle went heavily against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was badly wounded by the archers.H4421H3513H7586H3384H582H7198H4672H3966H2342H3384H582H7198 4Then Saul said to his armor bearer, "Draw your sword and pierce me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and pierce me through and make sport of me." But his armor bearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. So Saul took his sword and fell on it.H559H7586H5375H3627H8025H2719H1856H6189H935H1856H5953H5375H3627H14H3966H3372H7586H3947H2719H5307 5And when his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died with him.H5375H3627H7200H7586H4191H5307H2719H4191 6Thus Saul died with his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men on that day together.H7586H4191H7969H1121H5375H3627H582H3117H3162 7And when the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, with those who were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned the cities and fled; then the Philistines came and lived in them.H582H3478H5676H6010H5676H3383H7200H582H3478H5127H7586H1121H4191H5800H5892H5127H6430H935H3427 8And it came about on the next day when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.H4283H6430H935H6584H2491H4672H7586H7969H1121H5307H2022H1533 9And they cut off his head, and stripped off his weapons, and sent [ them] throughout the land of the Philistines, to carry the good news to the house of their idols and to the people.H3772H7218H6584H3627H7971H776H6430H5439H1319H1004H6091H5971 10And they put his weapons in the temple of Ashtaroth, and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.H7760H3627H1004H6252H1045H8628H1472H2346H1052 11Now when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,H3427H3003H1568H8085H6430H6213H7586 12all the valiant men rose and walked all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and they came to Jabesh, and burned them there.H2428H376H381H6965H3212H3915H3947H1472H7586H1472H1121H2346H1052H935H3003H8313 13And they took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.H3947H6106H6912H815H3003H6684H7651H3117
