Manasseh Reigns in Judah

2And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel.H6213H7451H5869H3068H8441H1471H3068H3423H6440H1121H3478

3For he rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had broken down, and he erected altars to the Baals, and made Asherahs, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.H1129H7725H1116H3169H1H5422H6965H4196H1168H6213H842H7812H6635H8064H5647

4And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem shall my name be forever."H1129H4196H1004H3068H3068H559H3389H8034H5769

6And he burned his sons as an offering in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and used fortune-telling and omens and sorcery, and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. 9Manasseh led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem astray, to do more evil than the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel.H4519H8582H3063H3427H3389H8582H6213H7451H1471H3068H8045H6440H1121H3478

Manasseh’s Repentance

10The LORD spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention.H3068H1696H4519H5971H7181

11Therefore the LORD brought upon them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria, who captured Manasseh with hooks and bound him with chains of bronze and brought him to Babylon.H3068H935H8269H6635H4428H804H3920H4519H2336H631H5178H3212H894

12And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.H6887H2470H3068H430H3665H3966H6440H430H1

13He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.H6419H6279H8085H8467H7725H3389H4438H4519H3045H3068H430

14Afterward he built an outer wall for the city of David west of Gihon, in the valley, and for the entrance into the Fish Gate, and carried it around Ophel, and raised it to a very great height. 17Nevertheless, the people still sacrificed at the high places, but only to the LORD their God.H61H5971H2076H1116H3068H430

Amon’s Reign and Death

21Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem.H526H8147H6242H8141H1121H4427H4427H8147H8141H3389

22And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done. Amon sacrificed to all the images that Manasseh his father had made, and served them.H6213H7451H5869H3068H6213H4519H1H526H2076H6456H4519H1H6213H5647

23And he did not humble himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself, but this Amon incurred guilt more and more.H3665H6440H3068H4519H1H3665H526H819H7235
