Solomon’s Dedication of the Temple

6Then Solomon said: The LORD said He would dwell in thick darkness,H559H8010H3068H559H7931H6205
2but I have built an exalted temple for You, a place for Your residence forever.H1129H1004H2073H4349H3427H5769
3Then the king turned and blessed the entire congregation of Israel while they were standing.H4428H5437H6440H1288H6951H3478H6951H3478H5975
4He said: May the LORD God of Israel be praised! He spoke directly to my father David, and He has fulfilled [the promise] by His power. He said,H559H1288H3068H430H3478H3027H4390H1696H6310H1H1732H559
5"Since the day I brought My people Israel out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city to build a temple in among any of the tribes of Israel, so that My name would be there, and I have not chosen a man to be ruler over My people Israel.H3117H3318H5971H776H4714H977H5892H7626H3478H1129H1004H8034H977H376H5057H5971H3478
6But I have chosen Jerusalem so that My name will be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel."H977H3389H8034H977H1732H5971H3478
7Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a temple for the name of the LORD God of Israel.H3824H1732H1H1129H1004H8034H3068H430H3478
8However, the LORD said to my father David, "Since it was your desire to build a temple for My name, you have done well to have this desire.H3068H559H1732H1H3824H1129H1004H8034H2895H3824
9Yet, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own offspring, will build the temple for My name."H7535H1129H1004H1121H3318H2504H1129H1004H8034
10So the LORD has fulfilled what He promised. I have taken the place of my father David and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the temple for the name of the LORD God of Israel.H3068H6965H1697H1696H6965H1732H1H3427H3678H3478H3068H1696H1129H1004H8034H3068H430H3478
11I have put the ark there, where the LORD's covenant is that He made with the Israelites.H8033H7760H727H1285H3068H3772H1121H3478

Solomon’s Prayer

12Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the entire congregation of Israel and spread out his hands.H5975H6440H4196H3068H6951H3478H6566H3709
13For Solomon had made a bronze platform seven and a half feet long, seven and a half feet wide, and four and a half feet high and put it in the court. He stood on it, knelt down in front of the entire congregation of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven.H8010H6213H5178H3595H2568H520H753H2568H520H7341H7969H520H6967H5414H8432H5835H5975H1288H1290H6951H3478H6566H3709H8064
14He said: LORD God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven or on earth, keeping His gracious covenant with Your servants who walk before You with their whole heart.H559H3068H430H3478H430H8064H776H8104H1285H2617H5650H1980H6440H3820
15You have kept what You promised to Your servant, my father David. You spoke directly [to him], and You fulfilled [Your promise] by Your power, as it is today.H8104H5650H1732H1H1696H1696H6310H4390H3027H3117
16Therefore, LORD God of Israel, keep what You promised to Your servant, my father David: You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons guard their way to walk in My Law as you have walked before Me.H3068H430H3478H8104H5650H1732H1H1696H559H3772H376H6440H3427H3678H3478H7535H1121H8104H1870H3212H8451H1980H6440
17Now, LORD God of Israel, please confirm what You promised to Your servant David.H3068H430H3478H1697H539H1696H5650H1732
18But will God indeed live on earth with man? Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built.H430H552H3427H120H776H8064H8064H8064H3557H1004H1129
19Listen to Your servant's prayer and his petition, LORD my God, so that You may hear the cry and the prayer that Your servant prays before You,H6437H8605H5650H8467H3068H430H8085H7440H8605H5650H6419H6440
20so that Your eyes watch over this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your name; and so that You may hear the prayer Your servant prays toward this place.H5869H6605H1004H3119H3915H4725H559H7760H8034H8085H8605H5650H6419H4725
21Hear the petitions of Your servant and Your people Israel, which they pray toward this place. May You hear in Your dwelling place in heaven. May You hear and forgive.H8085H8469H5650H5971H3478H6419H4725H8085H3427H4725H8064H8085H5545
22If a man sins against his neighbor and is forced to take an oath and he comes to take an oath before Your altar in this temple,H376H2398H7453H423H5375H422H423H935H6440H4196H1004
23may You hear in heaven and act. May You judge Your servants, condemning the wicked by bringing what he has done on his own head and providing justice for the righteous by rewarding him according to his righteousness.H8085H8064H6213H8199H5650H7725H7563H5414H1870H7218H6663H6662H5414H6666
24If Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy, because they have sinned against You, and they return [to You] and praise Your name, and they pray and plead for mercy before You in this temple,H5971H3478H5062H6440H341H2398H7725H3034H8034H6419H2603H6440H1004
25may You hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel. May You restore them to the land You gave them and their ancestors.H8085H8064H5545H2403H5971H3478H7725H127H5414H1
26When the skies are shut and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and praise Your name, and they turn from their sins because You are afflicting them,H8064H6113H4306H2398H6419H4725H3034H8034H7725H2403H6031
27may You hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants and Your people Israel, so that You may teach them the good way they should walk in. May You send rain on Your land that You gave Your people for an inheritance.H8085H8064H5545H2403H5650H5971H3478H3384H2896H1870H3212H5414H4306H776H5414H5971H5159
28When there is famine on the earth, when there is pestilence, when there is blight, mildew, locust, or grasshopper, when their enemies besiege them in the region of their fortified cities, [when there is] any plague or illness,H7458H776H1698H7711H3420H697H2625H341H6887H8179H776H5061H4245
29whatever prayer or petition anyone from your people Israel might have— each man knowing his own affliction and suffering, and spreading out his hands toward this temple—H8605H8467H120H5971H3478H376H3045H5061H4341H6566H3709H1004
30may You hear in heaven, Your dwelling place, and may You forgive and repay the man according to all his ways, since You know his heart, for You alone know the human heart,H8085H8064H3427H4349H5545H5414H376H1870H3824H3045H3045H3824H1121H120
31so that they may fear You and walk in Your ways all the days they live on the land You gave our ancestors.H3372H3212H1870H3117H2416H6440H127H5414H1
32Even for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your great name and Your mighty hand and outstretched arm: when he comes and prays toward this temple,H5237H5971H3478H935H7350H776H1419H8034H2389H3027H5186H2220H935H6419H1004
33may You hear in heaven in Your dwelling place, and do all the foreigner asks You for. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name, to fear You as Your people Israel do and know that this temple I have built is called by Your name.H8085H8064H3427H4349H6213H5237H7121H5971H776H3045H8034H3372H5971H3478H3045H1004H1129H7121H8034
34When Your people go out to fight against their enemies, wherever You send them, and they pray to You in the direction of this city You have chosen and the temple that I have built for Your name,H5971H3318H4421H341H1870H7971H6419H1870H5892H977H1004H1129H8034
35may You hear their prayer and petition in heaven and uphold their cause.H8085H8064H8605H8467H6213H4941
36When they sin against You— for there is no one who does not sin— and You are angry with them and hand them over to the enemy, and their captors deport them to a distant or nearby country,H2398H120H2398H599H5414H6440H341H7617H7617H776H7350H7138
37and when they come to their senses in the land where they were deported and repent and petition You in their captors' land, saying: "We have sinned and done wrong; we have been wicked,"H7725H3824H776H7617H7725H2603H776H7628H559H2398H5753H7561
38and when they return to You with their whole mind and heart in the land of their captivity where they were taken captive, and when they pray in the direction of their land that You gave their ancestors, and the city You have chosen, and toward the temple I have built for Your name,H7725H3820H5315H776H7628H7617H6419H1870H776H5414H1H5892H977H1004H1129H8034
39may You hear in heaven, in Your dwelling place, their prayer and petitions and uphold their cause. May You forgive Your people who sinned against You.H8085H8064H3427H4349H8605H8467H6213H4941H5545H5971H2398
40Now, my God, please let Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to the prayer of this place.H430H5869H6605H241H7183H8605H4725
41Now therefore: Arise, LORD God, [come] to Your resting place, You and the ark [that shows] Your strength. May Your priests, LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and may Your godly people rejoice in goodness.H6965H3068H430H5118H727H5797H3548H3068H430H3847H8668H2623H8055H2896
42LORD God, do not reject Your anointed one; remember the loyalty of Your servant David.H3068H430H7725H6440H4899H2142H2617H1732H5650
