16In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz the son of Jotham, king of Judah, began to reign.H7651H6240H8141H8141H6492H1121H7425H271H1121H3147H4428H3063H4427
2Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD his God, as his father David had done,H6242H8141H1121H271H4427H4427H8337H6240H8141H3389H6213H3477H5869H3068H430H1732H1
3but he walked in the way of the kings of Israel. He even burned his son as an offering, according to the despicable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel.H3212H1870H4428H3478H1121H5674H784H8441H1471H3068H3423H6440H1121H3478
4And he sacrificed and made offerings on the high places and on the hills and under every green tree.H2076H6999H1116H1389H7488H6086
5Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to wage war on Jerusalem, and they besieged Ahaz but could not conquer him.H7526H4428H758H6492H1121H7425H4428H3478H5927H3389H4421H6696H271H3201H3898
6At that time Rezin the king of Syria recovered Elath for Syria and drove the men of Judah from Elath, and the Edomites came to Elath, where they dwell to this day.H6256H7526H4428H758H7725H359H758H130H5394H3064H359H726H935H359H3427H3117
7So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up and rescue me from the hand of the king of Syria and from the hand of the king of Israel, who are attacking me."H271H7971H4397H8407H4428H804H559H5650H1121H5927H3467H3709H4428H758H3709H4428H3478H6965
8Ahaz also took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD and in the treasures of the king's house and sent a present to the king of Assyria.H271H3947H3701H2091H4672H1004H3068H214H4428H1004H7971H7810H4428H804
9And the king of Assyria listened to him. The king of Assyria marched up against Damascus and took it, carrying its people captive to Kir, and he killed Rezin.H4428H804H8085H4428H804H5927H1834H8610H1540H7024H4191H7526
10When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar that was at Damascus. And King Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest a model of the altar, and its pattern, exact in all its details.H4428H271H3212H1834H7125H8407H4428H804H7200H4196H1834H4428H271H7971H223H3548H1823H4196H8403H4639
11And Uriah the priest built the altar; in accordance with all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Uriah the priest made it, before King Ahaz arrived from Damascus.H223H3548H1129H4196H4428H271H7971H1834H223H3548H6213H4428H271H935H1834
12And when the king came from Damascus, the king viewed the altar. Then the king drew near to the altar and went up on itH4428H935H1834H4428H7200H4196H4428H7126H4196H5927
13and burned his burnt offering and his grain offering and poured his drink offering and threw the blood of his peace offerings on the altar.H6999H5930H4503H5258H5262H2236H1818H8002H4196
14And the bronze altar that was before the LORD he removed from the front of the house, from the place between his altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of his altar.H7126H5178H4196H6440H3068H6440H1004H4196H1004H3068H5414H6828H3409H4196
15And King Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, saying, "On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering and the evening grain offering and the king's burnt offering and his grain offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their grain offering and their drink offering. And throw on it all the blood of the burnt offering and all the blood of the sacrifice, but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by."H4428H271H6680H223H3548H559H1419H4196H6999H1242H5930H6153H4503H4428H5930H4503H5930H5971H776H4503H5262H2236H1818H5930H1818H2077H5178H4196H1239
16Uriah the priest did all this, as King Ahaz commanded.H6213H223H3548H4428H271H6680
17And King Ahaz cut off the frames of the stands and removed the basin from them, and he took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it and put it on a stone pedestal.H4428H271H7112H4526H4350H5493H3595H3381H3220H5178H1241H5414H4837H68
18And the covered way for the Sabbath that had been built inside the house and the outer entrance for the king he caused to go around the house of the LORD, because of the king of Assyria.H4329H4329H7676H1129H1004H4428H3996H2435H5437H1004H3068H6440H4428H804
19Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?H3499H1697H271H6213H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3063
20And Ahaz slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.H271H7901H1H6912H1H5892H1732H2396H1121H4427
