Moab Rebels Against Israel

3Now Jehoram the son of Ahab became king over Israel at Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.H3088H1121H256H4427H3478H8111H8083H6240H8141H3092H4428H3063H4427H8147H6240H8141 2And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not like his father and mother; for he put away the sacred pillar of Baal that his father had made.H6213H7451H5869H3068H1H517H5493H4676H1168H1H6213 3Nevertheless he persisted in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin; he did not depart from them.H1692H2403H3379H1121H5028H3478H2398H5493 4Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheepbreeder, and he regularly paid the king of Israel one hundred thousand lambs and the wool of one hundred thousand rams.H4338H4428H4124H5349H7725H4428H3478H3967H505H3733H3967H505H352H6785 5But it happened, when Ahab died, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.H256H4194H4428H4124H6586H4428H3478 6So King Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time and mustered all Israel.H4428H3088H3318H8111H3117H6485H3478 7Then he went and sent to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, saying, "The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?" And he said, "I will go up; I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."H3212H7971H3092H4428H3063H559H4428H4124H6586H3212H4124H4421H559H5927H5971H5971H5483H5483 8Then he said, "Which way shall we go up?" And he answered, "By way of the Wilderness of Edom."H559H1870H5927H559H1870H4057H123 9So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched on that roundabout route seven days; and there was no water for the army, nor for the animals that followed them.H4428H3478H3212H4428H3063H4428H123H5437H7651H3117H1870H4325H4264H929H7272 10And the king of Israel said, "Alas! For the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab."H4428H3478H559H162H3068H7121H7969H4428H7121H5414H3027H4124 11But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there no prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?" So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah."H3092H559H5030H3068H1875H3068H259H4428H3478H5650H6030H559H477H1121H8202H3332H4325H3027H452 12And Jehoshaphat said, "The word of the LORD is with him." So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.H3092H559H1697H3068H3426H4428H3478H3092H4428H123H3381 13Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, "What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother." But the king of Israel said to him, "No, for the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab."H477H559H4428H3478H3212H5030H1H5030H517H4428H3478H559H3068H7121H7969H4428H7121H5414H3027H4124 14And Elisha said, "As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you, nor see you.H477H559H3068H6635H2416H6440H5975H3884H5375H6440H3092H4428H3063H5027H7200 15"But now bring me a musician." Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.H3947H5059H5059H5059H3027H3068 16And he said, "Thus says the LORD: 'Make this valley full of ditches.'H559H559H3068H6213H5158H1356 17"For thus says the LORD: 'You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.'H559H3068H7200H7307H7200H1653H5158H4390H4325H8354H4735H929 18"And this is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD; He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.H7043H5869H3068H5414H4124H3027 19"Also you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall cut down every good tree, and stop up every spring of water, and ruin every good piece of land with stones."H5221H4013H5892H4004H5892H5307H2896H6086H5640H4599H4325H3510H2896H2513H68 20Now it happened in the morning, when the grain offering was offered, that suddenly water came by way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.H1242H4503H5927H935H4325H1870H123H776H4390H4325 21And when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, all who were able to bear arms and older were gathered; and they stood at the border.H4124H8085H4428H5927H3898H6817H2296H2290H4605H5975H1366 22Then they rose up early in the morning, and the sun was shining on the water; and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood.H7925H1242H8121H2224H4325H4124H7200H4325H5048H122H1818 23And they said, "This is blood; the kings have surely struck swords and have killed one another; now therefore, Moab, to the spoil!"H559H1818H4428H2717H2717H5221H376H7453H4124H7998 24So when they came to the camp of Israel, Israel rose up and attacked the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they entered their land, killing the Moabites.H935H4264H3478H3478H6965H5221H4124H5127H6440H5221H5221H4124 25Then they destroyed the cities, and each man threw a stone on every good piece of land and filled it; and they stopped up all the springs of water and cut down all the good trees. But they left the stones of Kir Haraseth intact. However the slingers surrounded and attacked it.H2040H5892H2896H2513H7993H376H68H4390H5640H4599H4325H5307H2896H6086H7025H7604H68H7051H5437H5221 26And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not.H4428H4124H7200H4421H2388H3947H7651H3967H376H8025H2719H1234H4428H123H3201 27Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering upon the wall; and there was great indignation against Israel. So they departed from him and returned to their own land.H3947H1060H1121H4427H5927H5930H2346H1419H7110H3478H5265H7725H776
