The Shunammite’s Land Restored

8Elisha said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, "Get ready, you and your household, and go and live as a foreigner wherever you can. For the LORD has announced a seven-year famine, and it has already come to the land."H1696H477H802H1121H2421H559H6965H3212H1004H1481H834H1481H3068H7121H7458H935H776H7651H8141 2So the woman got ready and did what the man of God said. She and her household lived as foreigners in the land of the Philistines for seven years.H802H6965H6213H1697H376H430H3212H1004H1481H776H6430H7651H8141 3When the woman returned from the land of the Philistines at the end of seven years, she went to appeal to the king for her house and field.H7651H8141H7097H802H7725H776H6430H3318H6817H4428H1004H7704 4The king had been speaking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, "Tell me all the great things Elisha has done."H4428H1696H1522H5288H376H430H559H5608H1419H477H6213 5While he was telling the king how Elisha restored the dead [son] to life, the woman whose son he had restored to life came to appeal to the king for her house and field. So Gehazi said, "My lord the king, this is the woman and this is the son Elisha restored to life."H5608H4428H2421H4191H2421H802H1121H2421H6817H4428H1004H7704H1522H559H113H4428H802H1121H477H2421 6When the king asked the woman, she told him the story. So the king appointed a court official for her, saying, "Restore all that was hers, along with all the income from the field from the day she left the country until now."H4428H7592H802H5608H4428H5414H259H5631H559H7725H8393H7704H3117H5800H776

Aram’s King Hazael

7Elisha came to Damascus while Ben-hadad king of Aram was sick, and the king was told, "The man of God has come here."H477H935H1834H1130H4428H758H2470H5046H559H376H430H935H2008 8So the king said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go meet the man of God. Inquire of the LORD through him, 'Will I recover from this sickness?'"H4428H559H2371H3947H4503H3027H3212H7125H376H430H1875H3068H559H2421H2483 9Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him a gift: 40 camel-loads of all kinds of goods from Damascus. When he came and stood before him, he said, "Your son, Ben-hadad king of Aram, has sent me to ask you, 'Will I recover from this sickness?'"H2371H3212H7125H3947H4503H3027H2898H1834H705H1581H4853H935H5975H6440H559H1121H1130H4428H758H7971H559H2421H2483 10Elisha told him, "Go say to him, 'You are sure to recover.' But the LORD has shown me that he is sure to die."H477H559H3212H559H2421H2421H3068H7200H4191H4191 11Then Elisha stared steadily at him until Hazael was ashamed. The man of God wept,H5975H6440H7760H954H376H430H1058 12and Hazael asked, "Why is my lord weeping?" He replied, "Because I know the evil you will do to the people of Israel. You will set their fortresses on fire. You will kill their young men with the sword. You will dash their little ones to pieces. You will rip open their pregnant women."H2371H559H1058H113H559H3045H7451H6213H1121H3478H4013H7971H784H970H2026H2719H7376H5768H1234H2030 13Hazael said, "How could your servant, a mere dog, do this monstrous thing?" Elisha answered, "The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram."H2371H559H5650H3611H6213H1419H1697H477H559H3068H7200H4428H758 14Hazael left Elisha and went to his master, who asked him, "What did Elisha say to you?" He responded, "He told me you are sure to recover."H3212H477H935H113H559H559H477H559H559H2421H2421 15The next day Hazael took a heavy cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king's face. Ben-hadad died, and Hazael reigned instead of him.H4283H3947H4346H2881H4325H6566H6440H4191H2371H4427

Judah’s King Jehoram

16In the fifth year of Israel's King Joram son of Ahab, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king of Judah, replacing his father.H2568H8141H3141H1121H256H4428H3478H3092H4428H3063H3088H1121H3092H4428H3063H4427 17He was 32 years old when he became king; he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.H7970H8147H8141H1121H4427H4427H8083H8141H3389 18He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for Ahab's daughter was his wife. He did what was evil in the LORD's sight.H3212H1870H4428H3478H6213H1004H256H1323H256H802H6213H7451H5869H3068 19The LORD was unwilling to destroy Judah because of His servant David, since He had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.H3068H14H7843H3063H1732H5650H559H5414H3117H5216H1121 20During Jehoram's reign, Edom rebelled against Judah's control and appointed their own king.H3117H123H6586H3027H3063H4427H4428 21So Jehoram crossed over to Zair with all his chariots. Then at night he set out to attack the Edomites who had surrounded him and the chariot commanders, but his troops fled to their tents.H3141H5674H6811H7393H6965H3915H5221H123H5437H8269H7393H5971H5127H168 22So Edom is still in rebellion against Judah's control today. Libnah also rebelled at that time.H123H6586H3027H3063H3117H3841H6586H1931H6256 23The rest of the events of Jehoram's [reign], along with all his accomplishments, are written about in the Historical Record of Israel's Kings.H3499H1697H3141H6213H3789H5612H1697H3117H4428H3063 24Jehoram rested with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and his son Ahaziah became king in his place.H3141H7901H1H6912H1H5892H1732H274H1121H4427

Judah’s King Ahaziah

25In the twelfth year of Israel's King Joram son of Ahab, Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah.H8147H6240H8141H8141H3141H1121H256H4428H3478H274H1121H3088H4428H3063H4427 26Ahaziah was 22 years old when he became king; he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah, granddaughter of Israel's King Omri.H8147H6242H8141H1121H274H4427H4427H259H8141H3389H517H8034H6271H1323H6018H4428H3478 27He walked in the way of the house of Ahab and did what was evil in the LORD's sight like the house of Ahab, for he was a son-in-law to Ahab's family.H3212H1870H1004H256H6213H7451H5869H3068H1004H256H2860H1004H256 28Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to fight against Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-gilead, and the Arameans wounded Joram.H3212H3141H1121H256H4421H2371H4428H758H7433H1568H761H5221H3141 29So King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds that the Arameans had inflicted on him in Ramoth-gilead when he fought against Aram's King Hazael. Then Judah's King Ahaziah son of Jehoram went down to Jezreel to visit Joram son of Ahab since Joram was ill.H4428H3141H7725H7495H3157H4347H761H5221H7414H3898H2371H4428H758H274H1121H3088H4428H3063H3381H7200H3141H1121H256H3157H2470
