In Iconium

14At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Gentiles believed.G1161G1096G1722G2430G846G1525G2596G846G1519G4864G2453G2532G3779G2980G5620G4183G4128G5037G2453G2532G1672G4100 2But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.G1161G544G2453G1892G1484G2532G2559G5590G2559G2596G80 3So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders.G2425G5550G3303G3767G1304G3955G1909G2962G3588G3140G3056G846G5485G2532G1325G4592G2532G5059G1096G1223G846G5495 4The people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, others with the apostles.G1161G4128G4172G4977G2532G3303G2258G4862G2453G1161G4862G652 5There was a plot afoot among the Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, to mistreat them and stone them.G1161G5613G1096G3730G1096G5037G1484G2532G2453G4862G846G758G5195G2532G3036G846 6But they found out about it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding country,G4894G2703G1519G3082G2532G1191G4172G3071G2532G4066 7where they continued to preach the good news.G2546G2258G2097

In Lystra and Derbe

8In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked.G2532G2521G5100G435G1722G3082G102G4228G5225G5560G1537G846G3384G2836G3739G3763G4043 9He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healedG3778G191G3972G2980G3739G816G846G2532G1492G3754G2192G4102G4982 10and called out, "Stand up on your feet!" At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.G2036G3173G5456G450G3717G1909G4675G4228G2532G242G2532G4043 11When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!"G1161G3793G1492G3739G3972G4160G1869G846G5456G3004G3072G2316G2597G4314G2248G3666G444 12Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker.G5037G2564G921G3303G2203G1161G3972G2060G1894G846G2258G2233G3056 13The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.G1161G2409G2203G3588G5607G4253G846G4172G5342G5022G2532G4725G1909G4440G2309G2380G4862G3793 14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting:G1161G652G921G2532G3972G191G1284G846G2440G1530G1519G3793G2896 15"Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.G2532G3004G435G5101G4160G5130G2249G2532G2070G444G3663G5213G2097G5209G1994G575G5023G3152G1909G2198G2316G3739G4160G3772G2532G1093G2532G2281G2532G3956G1722G846 16In the past, he let all nations go their own way.G3739G1722G1074G3944G1439G3956G1484G4198G846G3598 17Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy."G2544G2532G863G3756G1438G267G15G1325G2254G5205G3771G2532G2593G2540G1705G2257G2588G5160G2532G2167 18Even with these words, they had difficulty keeping the crowd from sacrificing to them.G2532G5023G3004G3433G2664G3793G2380G3361G2380G846 19Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead.G1161G1904G2453G575G490G2532G2430G2532G3982G3793G2532G3034G3972G4951G1854G4172G3543G846G2348 20But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.G1161G3101G2944G846G450G1525G1519G4172G2532G1887G1831G4862G921G1519G1191
