Offerings for Priests and Levites

18The priests, who are Levites—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—are to have no allotment or inheritance with Israel. They shall live on the offerings made to the LORD by fire, for that is their inheritance.H3548H3881H7626H3878H2506H5159H3478H398H801H3068H801H5159 2They shall have no inheritance among their brothers; the LORD is their inheritance, as he promised them.H5159H7130H251H3068H5159H1696 3This is the share due the priests from the people who sacrifice a bull or a sheep: the shoulder, the jowls and the inner parts.H3548H4941H5971H2076H2077H7794H7716H5414H3548H2220H3895H6896 4You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine and oil, and the first wool from the shearing of your sheep,H7225H1715H8492H3323H7225H1488H6629H5414 5for the LORD your God has chosen them and their descendants out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the LORD'S name always.H3068H430H977H7626H5975H8334H8034H3068H1121H3117 6If a Levite moves from one of your towns anywhere in Israel where he is living, and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose,H3881H935H259H8179H3478H1481H935H185H5315H4725H3068H977 7he may minister in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who serve there in the presence of the LORD.H8334H8034H3068H430H251H3881H5975H6440H3068 8He is to share equally in their benefits, even though he has received money from the sale of family possessions.H2506H398H4465H1

Occult Practices

9When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.H935H776H3068H430H5414H3925H6213H8441H1471 10Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,H4672H1121H1323H5674H784H7080H7081H6049H5172H3784 11or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.H2266H2267H7592H178H3049H1875H4191 12Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you.H6213H8441H3068H1558H8441H3068H430H3423H6440 13You must be blameless before the LORD your God.H8549H3068H430

The Prophet

14The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.H1471H3423H8085H6049H7080H3068H430H5414 15The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.H3068H430H6965H5030H7130H251H8085 16For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, "Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die."H7592H3068H430H2722H3117H6951H559H8085H3254H6963H3068H430H7200H1419H784H4191 17The LORD said to me: "What they say is good.H3068H559H3190H1696 18I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.H6965H5030H7130H251H5414H1697H6310H1696H6680 19If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.H376H8085H1697H1696H8034H1875 20But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death."H5030H2102H1696H1697H8034H6680H1696H1696H8034H312H430H5030H4191 21You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?"H559H3824H3045H1697H3068H1696 22If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.H5030H1696H8034H3068H1697H935H1697H3068H1696H5030H1696H2087H1481
