He made you go hungry, and then he gave you manna to eat, food that you and your ancestors had never eaten before. He did this to teach you that you must not depend on bread alone to sustain you, but on everything that the LORD says.H6031H7456H398H4478H3045H1H3045H3045H120H2421H3899H905H4161H6310H3068H120H2421
During these forty years your clothes have not worn out, nor have your feet swollen up.H8071H1086H7272H1216H705H8141
Remember that the LORD your God corrects and punishes you just as parents discipline their children.H3045H5973H3824H376H3256H1121H3068H430H3256
So then, do as the LORD has commanded you: live according to his laws and obey him.H8104H4687H3068H430H3212H1870H3372

Warnings against Forgetting the Lord

"Make certain that you do not forget the LORD your God; do not fail to obey any of his laws that I am giving you today.H8104H7911H3068H430H8104H4687H4941H2708H6680H3117
When you have all you want to eat and have built good houses to live inH398H7646H1129H2896H1004H3427
and when your cattle and sheep, your silver and gold, and all your other possessions have increased,H1241H6629H7235H3701H2091H7235H7235
be sure that you do not become proud and forget the LORD your God who rescued you from Egypt, where you were slaves.H3824H7311H7911H3068H430H3318H776H4714H1004H5650
He led you through that vast and terrifying desert where there were poisonous snakes and scorpions. In that dry and waterless land he made water flow out of solid rock for you.H3212H1419H3372H4057H8314H5175H6137H6774H4325H3318H4325H6697H2496
In the desert he gave you manna to eat, food that your ancestors had never eaten. He sent hardships on you to test you, so that in the end he could bless you with good things.H398H4057H4478H1H3045H6031H5254H3190H319
So then, you must never think that you have made yourselves wealthy by your own power and strength.H559H3824H3581H6108H3027H6213H2428
Remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you the power to become rich. He does this because he is still faithful today to the covenant that he made with your ancestors.H2142H3068H430H5414H3581H6213H2428H6965H1285H7650H1H3117
