The Lord Provides Manna

16THEY SET out from Elim, and all the congregation of Israel came to the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they left the land of Egypt.H5265H362H5712H1121H3478H935H4057H5512H362H5514H2568H6240H3117H8145H2320H3318H776H4714 2And the whole congregation of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness,H5712H1121H3478H3885H4872H175H4057 3And said to them, Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the fleshpots and ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.H1121H3478H559H4310H5414H4191H3027H3068H776H4714H3427H1320H5518H398H3899H7648H3318H4057H4191H6951H7458 4Then the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from the heavens for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My law or not.H559H3068H4872H4305H3899H8064H5971H3318H3950H1697H3117H3117H5254H3212H8451 5On the sixth day they shall prepare to bring in twice as much as they gather daily.H8345H3117H3559H834H935H4932H3950H3117H3117 6So Moses and Aaron said to all Israel, At evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out from the land of Egypt,H4872H175H559H1121H3478H6153H3045H3068H3318H776H4714 7And in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord, for He hears your murmurings against the Lord. For what are we, that you murmur against us?H1242H7200H3519H3068H8085H8519H3068H5168H3885H3885

The Lord Provides Meat

8And Moses said, [This will happen] when the Lord gives you in the evening flesh to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your grumblings which you murmur against Him; what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord.H4872H559H3068H5414H6153H1320H398H1242H3899H7646H3068H8085H8519H3885H5168H8519H3068 9And Moses said to Aaron, Say to all the congregation of Israel, Come near before the Lord, for He has heard your murmurings.H4872H559H175H559H5712H1121H3478H7126H6440H3068H8085H8519 10And as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud!H175H1696H5712H1121H3478H6437H4057H3519H3068H7200H6051 11The Lord said to Moses,H3068H1696H4872H559 12I have heard the murmurings of the Israelites; speak to them, saying, At twilight you shall eat meat, and between the two evenings you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God.H8085H8519H1121H3478H1696H559H996H6153H398H1320H1242H7646H3899H3045H3068H430 13In the evening quails came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay round about the camp.H6153H7958H5927H3680H4264H1242H2919H7902H5439H4264 14And when the dew had gone, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a fine, round {and} flakelike thing, as fine as hoarfrost on the ground.H2919H7902H5927H6440H4057H1851H2636H1851H3713H776 15When the Israelites saw it, they said one to another, Manna [What is it?]. For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.H1121H3478H7200H559H376H251H4478H3045H4872H559H3899H3068H5414H402 16This is what the Lord has commanded: Let every man gather of it as much as he will need, an omer for each person, according to the number of your persons; take it, every man for those in his tent.H1697H834H3068H6680H3950H376H6310H400H6016H1538H4557H5315H3947H376H168 17The [people] did so, and gathered, some more, some less.H1121H3478H6213H3950H7235H4591 18When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack; each gathered according to his need.H4058H6016H7235H5736H4591H2637H3950H376H6310H400 19Moses said, Let none of it be left until morning.H4872H559H376H3498H1242 20But they did not listen to Moses; some of them left of it until morning, and it bred worms, became foul, {and} stank; and Moses was angry with them.H8085H4872H582H3498H1242H7311H8438H887H4872H7107 21They gathered it every morning, each as much as he needed, for when the sun became hot it melted.H3950H1242H376H6310H400H8121H2552H4549

The Sabbath Observed

22And on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each person; and all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses.H8345H3117H3950H4932H3899H8147H6016H259H5387H5712H935H5046H4872 23He said to them, The Lord has said, Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord; bake and boil what you will bake and boil today; and all that remains over put aside for you to keep until morning.H559H3068H1696H4279H7677H6944H7676H3068H644H644H1310H1310H3605H5736H3240H4931H1242 24They laid it aside till morning, as Moses told them; and it did not become foul, neither was it wormy.H3240H1242H4872H6680H887H7415 25Moses said, Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord. Today you shall find none in the field.H4872H559H398H3117H3117H7676H3068H3117H4672H7704 26Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there shall be none.H8337H3117H3950H7637H3117H7676 27On the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, but they found none.H3318H5971H7637H3117H3950H4672 28The Lord said to Moses, How long do you [people] refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?H3068H559H4872H3985H8104H4687H8451 29See, the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day the bread for two days; let every man remain in his place; let no man leave his place on the seventh day.H7200H3068H5414H7676H5414H8345H3117H3899H3117H3427H376H376H3318H4725H7637H3117 30So the people rested on the seventh day.H5971H7673H7637H3117 31The house of Israel called the bread manna; it was like coriander seed, white, and it tasted like wafers made with honey.H1004H3478H7121H8034H4478H1407H2233H3836H2940H6838H1706 32Moses said, This is what the Lord commands, Take an omer of it to be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.H4872H559H1697H3068H6680H4393H6016H4931H1755H7200H3899H398H4057H3318H776H4714 33And Moses said to Aaron, Take a pot and put an omer of manna in it, and lay it up before the Lord, to be kept throughout your generations.H4872H559H175H3947H259H6803H5414H6016H4393H4478H3240H6440H3068H4931H1755 34As the Lord commanded Moses, Aaron laid it up before the Testimony to be kept [in the ark].H3068H6680H4872H175H3240H6440H5715H4931 35And the Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a habitable land; they ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.H1121H3478H398H4478H705H8141H935H776H3427H398H4478H935H7097H776H3667 36(Now an omer is the tenth of an ephah.)H6016H6224H374
