The Lord Provides Manna

16Then they set out from Elim, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt.H5265H362H5712H1121H3478H935H4057H5512H362H5514H2568H6240H3117H8145H2320H3318H776H4714 2And the whole congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.H5712H1121H3478H3885H4872H175H4057 3And the sons of Israel said to them, "Would that we had died by the Lord's hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger."H1121H3478H559H4310H5414H4191H3027H3068H776H4714H3427H1320H5518H398H3899H7648H3318H4057H4191H6951H7458 4Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.H559H3068H4872H4305H3899H8064H5971H3318H3950H1697H3117H3117H5254H3212H8451 5"And it will come about on the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily."H8345H3117H3559H834H935H4932H3950H3117H3117 6So Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel, "At evening you will know that the LORD has brought you out of the land of Egypt;H4872H175H559H1121H3478H6153H3045H3068H3318H776H4714 7and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, for He hears your grumblings against the LORD; and what are we, that you grumble against us? "H1242H7200H3519H3068H8085H8519H3068H5168H3885H3885

The Lord Provides Meat

8And Moses said, "[This will happen] when the LORD gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread to the full in the morning; for the LORD hears your grumblings which you grumble against Him. And what are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD. "H4872H559H3068H5414H6153H1320H398H1242H3899H7646H3068H8085H8519H3885H5168H8519H3068 9Then Moses said to Aaron, "Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, 'Come near before the LORD, for He has heard your grumblings.'"H4872H559H175H559H5712H1121H3478H7126H6440H3068H8085H8519 10And it came about as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.H175H1696H5712H1121H3478H6437H4057H3519H3068H7200H6051 11And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,H3068H1696H4872H559 12"I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, 'At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God.'"H8085H8519H1121H3478H1696H559H996H6153H398H1320H1242H7646H3899H3045H3068H430 13So it came about at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.H6153H7958H5927H3680H4264H1242H2919H7902H5439H4264 14When the layer of dew evaporated, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine flake-like thing, fine as the frost on the ground.H2919H7902H5927H6440H4057H1851H2636H1851H3713H776 15When the sons of Israel saw [it,] they said to one another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, "It is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.H1121H3478H7200H559H376H251H4478H3045H4872H559H3899H3068H5414H402 16"This is what the LORD has commanded, 'Gather of it every man as much as he should eat; you shall take an omer apiece according to the number of persons each of you has in his tent.'"H1697H834H3068H6680H3950H376H6310H400H6016H1538H4557H5315H3947H376H168 17And the sons of Israel did so, and [some] gathered much and [some] little.H1121H3478H6213H3950H7235H4591 18When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat.H4058H6016H7235H5736H4591H2637H3950H376H6310H400 19And Moses said to them, "Let no man leave any of it until morning."H4872H559H376H3498H1242 20But they did not listen to Moses, and some left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them.H8085H4872H582H3498H1242H7311H8438H887H4872H7107 21And they gathered it morning by morning, every man as much as he should eat; but when the sun grew hot, it would melt.H3950H1242H376H6310H400H8121H2552H4549

The Sabbath Observed

22Now it came about on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. When all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses,H8345H3117H3950H4932H3899H8147H6016H259H5387H5712H935H5046H4872 23then he said to them, "This is what the LORD meant: Tomorrow is a sabbath observance, a holy sabbath to the LORD. Bake what you will bake and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over put aside to be kept until morning."H559H3068H1696H4279H7677H6944H7676H3068H644H644H1310H1310H3605H5736H3240H4931H1242 24So they put it aside until morning, as Moses had ordered, and it did not become foul, nor was there any worm in it.H3240H1242H4872H6680H887H7415 25And Moses said, "Eat it today, for today is a sabbath to the LORD; today you will not find it in the field.H4872H559H398H3117H3117H7676H3068H3117H4672H7704 26"Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, [the] sabbath, there will be none."H8337H3117H3950H7637H3117H7676 27And it came about on the seventh day that some of the people went out to gather, but they found none.H3318H5971H7637H3117H3950H4672 28Then the LORD said to Moses, "How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My instructions?H3068H559H4872H3985H8104H4687H8451 29"See, the LORD has given you the sabbath; therefore He gives you bread for two days on the sixth day. Remain every man in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day."H7200H3068H5414H7676H5414H8345H3117H3899H3117H3427H376H376H3318H4725H7637H3117 30So the people rested on the seventh day.H5971H7673H7637H3117 31And the house of Israel named it manna, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.H1004H3478H7121H8034H4478H1407H2233H3836H2940H6838H1706 32Then Moses said, "This is what the LORD has commanded, 'Let an omerful of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread that I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.'"H4872H559H1697H3068H6680H4393H6016H4931H1755H7200H3899H398H4057H3318H776H4714 33And Moses said to Aaron, "Take a jar and put an omerful of manna in it, and place it before the LORD, to be kept throughout your generations."H4872H559H175H3947H259H6803H5414H6016H4393H4478H3240H6440H3068H4931H1755 34As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron placed it before the Testimony, to be kept.H3068H6680H4872H175H3240H6440H5715H4931 35And the sons of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.H1121H3478H398H4478H705H8141H935H776H3427H398H4478H935H7097H776H3667 36(Now an omer is a tenth of an ephah.)H6016H6224H374
