Moses and the Burning Bush

3Meanwhile Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.H4872H1961H7462H6629H3503H2859H3548H4080H5090H6629H310H4057H935H2022H430H2722 2Then the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire within a bush. As Moses looked, he saw that the bush was on fire but was not consumed.H4397H3068H7200H3827H784H8432H5572H7200H5572H1197H784H5572H398 3So Moses thought: I must go over and look at this remarkable sight. Why isn't the bush burning up?H4872H559H5493H7200H1419H4758H4069H5572H1197 4When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from the bush, "Moses, Moses!" "Here I am," he answered.H3068H7200H5493H7200H430H7121H8432H5572H559H4872H4872H559 5"Do not come closer," He said. "Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground."H559H7126H1988H5394H5275H7272H4725H834H5975H6944H127 6Then He continued, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.H559H430H1H430H85H430H3327H430H3290H4872H5641H6440H3372H5027H430 7Then the LORD said, "I have observed the misery of My people in Egypt, and have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I know about their sufferings.H3068H559H7200H7200H6040H5971H4714H8085H6818H6440H5065H3045H4341 8I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey— the territory of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.H3381H5337H3027H4714H5927H776H2896H776H7342H776H2100H2461H1706H4725H3669H2850H567H6522H2340H2983 9The Israelites' cry for help has come to Me, and I have also seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.H6818H1121H3478H935H7200H3906H4714H3905 10Therefore, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you may lead My people, the Israelites, out of Egypt."H3212H7971H6547H3318H5971H1121H3478H4714 11But Moses asked God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"H4872H559H430H3212H6547H3318H1121H3478H4714 12He answered, "I will certainly be with you, and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship God at this mountain."H559H226H3588H7971H3318H5971H4714H5647H430H2022 13Then Moses asked God, "If I go to the Israelites and say to them: The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, 'What is His name?' what should I tell them?"H4872H559H430H935H1121H3478H559H430H1H7971H559H8034H559 14God replied to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you."H430H559H4872H1961H1961H559H559H1121H3478H7971 15God also said to Moses, "Say this to the Israelites: Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever; this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.H430H559H5750H4872H559H1121H3478H3068H430H1H430H85H430H3327H430H3290H7971H8034H5769H2143H1755H1755 16"Go and assemble the elders of Israel and say to them: Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to me and said: I have paid close attention to you and to what has been done to you in Egypt.H3212H622H2205H3478H622H559H3068H430H1H430H85H3327H3290H7200H559H6485H6485H6213H4714 17And I have promised you that I will bring you up from the misery of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites— a land flowing with milk and honey.H559H5927H6040H4714H776H3669H2850H567H6522H2340H2983H776H2100H2461H1706 18They will listen to what you say. Then you, along with the elders of Israel, must go to the king of Egypt and say to him: The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go on a three-day trip into the wilderness so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.H8085H6963H935H2205H3478H4428H4714H559H3068H430H5680H7136H3212H7969H3117H1870H4057H2076H3068H430 19"However, I know that the king of Egypt will not allow you to go, unless [he is forced] by a strong hand.H3045H4428H4714H5414H1980H2389H3027 20I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all My miracles that I will perform in it. After that, he will let you go.H7971H3027H5221H4714H6381H6213H7130H310H7971 21And I will give this people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you go, you will not go empty-handed.H5414H5971H2580H5869H4714H3212H3212H7387 22Each woman will ask her neighbor and any woman staying in her house for silver and gold jewelry, and clothing, and you will put them on your sons and daughters. So you will plunder the Egyptians."H802H7592H7934H1481H1004H3627H3701H3627H2091H8071H7760H1121H1323H5337H4714
