Moses and Aaron Before Pharaoh

7And the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.H3068H559H4872H7200H5414H430H6547H175H251H5030 2You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land.H1696H6680H175H251H1696H6547H7971H1121H3478H776 3But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,H7185H6547H3820H7235H226H4159H776H4714 4Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment.H6547H8085H5414H3027H4714H3318H6635H5971H1121H3478H776H4714H1419H8201 5The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them."H4714H3045H3068H5186H3027H4714H3318H1121H3478H8432 6Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as the LORD commanded them.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H6213 7Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.H4872H8084H8141H1121H175H8084H7969H8141H1121H1696H6547 8Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,H3068H559H4872H175H559 9"When Pharaoh says to you, 'Prove yourselves by working a miracle,' then you shall say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.'"H6547H1696H559H5414H4159H559H175H3947H4294H7993H6440H6547H8577 10So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.H4872H175H935H6547H6213H3068H6680H175H7993H4294H6440H6547H6440H5650H8577 11Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts.H6547H7121H2450H3784H2748H4714H6213H3651H3858 12For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.H7993H376H4294H8577H175H4294H1104H4294 13Still Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the LORD had said.H2388H6547H3820H8085H3068H1696

The First Plague: Water Turned to Blood

14Then the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is hardened; he refuses to let the people go.H3068H559H4872H6547H3820H3515H3985H5971H7971 15Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he is going out to the water. Stand on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that turned into a serpent.H3212H6547H1242H3318H4325H5324H2975H8193H7125H4294H2015H5175H3947H3027 16And you shall say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you, saying, "Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness. But so far, you have not obeyed."H559H3068H430H5680H7971H559H5971H7971H5647H4057H3541H8085 17Thus says the LORD, "By this you shall know that I am the LORD: behold, with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water that is in the Nile, and it shall turn into blood.H559H3068H3045H3068H5221H4294H3027H4325H2975H2015H1818 18The fish in the Nile shall die, and the Nile will stink, and the Egyptians will grow weary of drinking water from the Nile."'"H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3811H8354H4325H2975 19And the LORD said to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, their canals, and their ponds, and all their pools of water, so that they may become blood, and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, even in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.'"H3068H559H4872H559H175H3947H4294H5186H3027H4325H4714H5104H2975H98H4723H4325H1818H1818H776H4714H6086H68 20Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded. In the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants he lifted up the staff and struck the water in the Nile, and all the water in the Nile turned into blood.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H7311H4294H5221H4325H2975H5869H6547H5869H5650H4325H2975H2015H1818 21And the fish in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. There was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3201H8354H4325H2975H1818H776H4714 22But the magicians of Egypt did the same by their secret arts. So Pharaoh's heart remained hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the LORD had said.H2748H4714H6213H3909H6547H3820H2388H8085H3068H1696 23Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he did not take even this to heart.H6547H6437H935H1004H7896H3820H2063 24And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile for water to drink, for they could not drink the water of the Nile.H4714H2658H5439H2975H4325H8354H3201H8354H4325H2975 25Seven full days passed after the LORD had struck the Nile.H7651H3117H4390H310H3068H5221H2975
