Exodus 7
Today's New International Version Help
7Then the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.H3068H559H4872H7200H5414H430H6547H175H251H5030
2You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.H1696H6680H175H251H1696H6547H7971H1121H3478H776
3But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt,H7185H6547H3820H7235H226H4159H776H4714
4he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.H6547H8085H5414H3027H4714H3318H6635H5971H1121H3478H776H4714H1419H8201
5And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it."H4714H3045H3068H5186H3027H4714H3318H1121H3478H8432
6Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H6213
7Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.H4872H8084H8141H1121H175H8084H7969H8141H1121H1696H6547
8The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,H3068H559H4872H175H559
9"When Pharaoh says to you, 'Perform a miracle,' then say to Aaron, 'Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,' and it will become a snake."H6547H1696H559H5414H4159H559H175H3947H4294H7993H6440H6547H8577
10So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.H4872H175H935H6547H6213H3068H6680H175H7993H4294H6440H6547H6440H5650H8577
11Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:H6547H7121H2450H3784H2748H4714H6213H3651H3858
12Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.H7993H376H4294H8577H175H4294H1104H4294
13Yet Pharaoh's heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.H2388H6547H3820H8085H3068H1696
14Then the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.H3068H559H4872H6547H3820H3515H3985H5971H7971
15Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river. Wait on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.H3212H6547H1242H3318H4325H5324H2975H8193H7125H4294H2015H5175H3947H3027
16Then say to him, 'The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But until now you have not listened.H559H3068H430H5680H7971H559H5971H7971H5647H4057H3541H8085
17This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.H559H3068H3045H3068H5221H4294H3027H4325H2975H2015H1818
18The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.' "H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3811H8354H4325H2975
19The LORD said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, 'Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.' Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in the wooden buckets and stone jars."H3068H559H4872H559H175H3947H4294H5186H3027H4325H4714H5104H2975H98H4723H4325H1818H1818H776H4714H6086H68
20Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood.H4872H175H6213H3068H6680H7311H4294H5221H4325H2975H5869H6547H5869H5650H4325H2975H2015H1818
21The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.H1710H2975H4191H2975H887H4714H3201H8354H4325H2975H1818H776H4714
22But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh's heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.H2748H4714H6213H3909H6547H3820H2388H8085H3068H1696
23Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart.H6547H6437H935H1004H7896H3820H2063
24And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.H4714H2658H5439H2975H4325H8354H3201H8354H4325H2975
25Seven days passed after the LORD struck the Nile.H7651H3117H4390H310H3068H5221H2975
