The Tower of Babylon

11At first, the people of the whole world had only one language and used the same words.H776H259H8193H259H1697 2As they wandered about in the East, they came to a plain in Babylonia and settled there.H5265H6924H4672H1237H776H8152H3427 3They said to one another, "Come on! Let's make bricks and bake them hard." So they had bricks to build with and tar to hold them together.H559H376H7453H3051H3835H3843H8313H8316H3843H68H2564H1961H2563 4They said, "Now let's build a city with a tower that reaches the sky, so that we can make a name for ourselves and not be scattered all over the earth."H559H3051H1129H5892H4026H7218H8064H6213H8034H6327H6440H776 5Then the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which they had built,H3068H3381H7200H5892H4026H1121H120H1129 6and he said, "Now then, these are all one people and they speak one language; this is just the beginning of what they are going to do. Soon they will be able to do anything they want!H3068H559H5971H259H259H8193H2490H6213H3808H3605H1219H2161H6213 7Let us go down and mix up their language so that they will not understand each other."H3051H3381H1101H8193H834H8085H376H7453H8193 8So the LORD scattered them all over the earth, and they stopped building the city.H3068H6327H8033H6440H776H2308H1129H5892 9The city was called Babylon, because there the LORD mixed up the language of all the people, and from there he scattered them all over the earth.H8034H7121H894H3068H1101H8193H776H6327H3068H6327H6440H776
