The Tower in Babylon

11There was a time when the entire earth spoke a common language with an identical vocabulary.H776H259H8193H259H1697 2As people migrated westward, they came across a plain in the region of Shinar and settled there.H5265H6924H4672H1237H776H8152H3427 3They said to each other, "Come on! Let's burn bricks thoroughly." They used bricks for stone and tar for mortar.H559H376H7453H3051H3835H3843H8313H8316H3843H68H2564H1961H2563 4Then they said, "Come on! Let's build ourselves a city and a tower, with its summit in the heavens, and let's make a name for ourselves so we won't be scattered over the surface of the whole earth."H559H3051H1129H5892H4026H7218H8064H6213H8034H6327H6440H776 5However, the Lord descended to look over the city and the tower that the humans were building.H3068H3381H7200H5892H4026H1121H120H1129 6The Lord said, "Look! They are one people with the same language for all of them, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. Nothing that they have a mind to do will be impossible for them!H3068H559H5971H259H259H8193H2490H6213H3808H3605H1219H2161H6213 7Come on! Let's go down there and confuse their language, so that they will not understand each other's speech."6H3051H3381H1101H8193H834H8085H376H7453H8193 8So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the surface of the whole earth, so that they had to stop building the city.H3068H6327H8033H6440H776H2308H1129H5892 9Therefore it was called Babylon, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth, and from there the Lord scattered them over the surface of the entire earth.H8034H7121H894H3068H1101H8193H776H6327H3068H6327H6440H776
