The Tower of Babel

11Now the whole world had one language and a common speech.H776H259H8193H259H1697 2As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.H5265H6924H4672H1237H776H8152H3427 3They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.H559H376H7453H3051H3835H3843H8313H8316H3843H68H2564H1961H2563 4Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."H559H3051H1129H5892H4026H7218H8064H6213H8034H6327H6440H776 5But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building.H3068H3381H7200H5892H4026H1121H120H1129 6The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.H3068H559H5971H259H259H8193H2490H6213H3808H3605H1219H2161H6213 7Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."H3051H3381H1101H8193H834H8085H376H7453H8193 8So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.H3068H6327H8033H6440H776H2308H1129H5892 9That is why it was called Babel—because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.H8034H7121H894H3068H1101H8193H776H6327H3068H6327H6440H776
