Jacob and Esau Meet

33Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants.H3290H5375H5869H7200H6215H935H702H3967H376H2673H3206H3812H7354H8147H8198 2And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last.H7760H8198H3206H7223H3812H3206H314H7354H3130H314 3Then he crossed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.H5674H6440H7812H776H7651H6471H5066H251 4But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.H6215H7323H7125H2263H5307H6677H5401H1058 5And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, "Who are these with you?" So he said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant."H5375H5869H7200H802H3206H559H428H559H3206H430H2603H5650 6Then the maidservants came near, they and their children, and bowed down.H8198H5066H3206H7812 7And Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed down. Afterward Joseph and Rachel came near, and they bowed down.H3812H3206H5066H7812H310H5066H3130H5066H7354H7812 8Then Esau said, "What do you mean by all this company which I met?" And he said, "These are to find favor in the sight of my lord."H559H4264H6298H559H4672H2580H5869H113 9But Esau said, "I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself."H6215H559H3426H7227H251 10And Jacob said, "No, please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me.H3290H559H4672H2580H5869H3947H4503H3027H7200H6440H7200H6440H430H7521 11"Please, take my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough." So he urged him, and he took it.H3947H1293H935H430H2603H3605H3426H3605H6484H3947 12Then Esau said, "Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you."H559H5265H3212H3212 13But Jacob said to him, "My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die.H559H113H3045H3206H7390H6629H1241H5763H1849H259H3117H6629H4191 14"Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, are able to endure, until I come to my lord in Seir."H113H5674H6440H5650H5095H328H7272H4399H6440H3206H7272H935H113H8165 15And Esau said, "Now let me leave with you some of the people who are with me." But he said, "What need is there? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord."H6215H559H3322H5971H559H4100H4672H2580H5869H113 16So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.H6215H7725H3117H1870H8165 17And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, built himself a house, and made booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.H3290H5265H5523H1129H1004H6213H5521H4735H8034H4725H7121H5523
