Cain Murders Abel

4Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, "I have acquired a man from the LORD."H120H3045H853H2332H802H2029H3205H853H7014H559H7069H376H854H3068 2Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.H3254H3205H251H1893H1893H7462H6629H7014H5647H127 3And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD.H7093H3117H7014H935H6529H127H4503H3068 4Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering,H1893H1931H935H1062H6629H2459H3068H8159H1893H4503 5but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.H7014H4503H8159H7014H3966H2734H6440H5307 6So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?H3068H559H7014H2734H6440H5307 7"If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it."H518H3190H7613H3190H2403H7257H6607H8669H4910 8Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.H7014H559H413H1893H251H7704H7014H6965H413H1893H251H2026 9Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?"H3068H559H7014H335H1893H251H559H3045H251H8104 10And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground.H559H4100H6213H6963H251H1818H6817H127 11"So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.H779H127H6475H6310H3947H251H1818H3027 12"When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth."H3588H5647H127H3254H5414H3581H5128H5110H776 13And Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear!H7014H559H3068H5771H1419H5375 14"Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me."H1644H3117H6440H127H5921H6440H5641H5128H5110H776H1961H4672H2026 15And the LORD said to him, "Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.H3068H559H3651H2026H7014H5358H7659H3068H7760H226H7014H1115H4672H5221

The Family of Cain

16Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.H7014H3318H6440H3068H3427H776H5113H6926H5731 17And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch.H7014H3045H802H2029H3205H2585H1129H5892H7121H8034H5892H8034H1121H2585 18To Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamech.H2585H3205H5897H5897H3205H4232H4232H3205H4967H4967H3205H3929 19Then Lamech took for himself two wives: the name of one was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah.H3929H3947H8147H802H8034H259H5711H8034H8145H6741 20And Adah bore Jabal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.H5711H3205H2989H1H3427H168H4735 21His brother's name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who play the harp and flute.H251H8034H3106H1H8610H3658H5748 22And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.H6741H3205H8423H3913H2794H5178H1270H269H8423H5279 23Then Lamech said to his wives: "Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; Wives of Lamech, listen to my speech! For I have killed a man for wounding me, Even a young man for hurting me.H3929H559H802H5711H6741H8085H6963H802H3929H238H565H2026H376H6482H3206H2250 24If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold."H3588H7014H5358H7659H3929H7657H7651

A New Son

25And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, "For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed."H120H3045H802H5750H3205H1121H7121H8034H8352H430H7896H312H2233H8478H1893H3588H7014H2026 26And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD.H8352H1931H3205H1121H7121H8034H583H2490H7121H8034H3068
