The Great Salvation

2That is why we must hold on all the more firmly to the truths we have heard, so that we will not be carried away.G1223G5124G2248G1163G4056G4337G191G3379G3901 2The message given to our ancestors by the angels was shown to be true, and those who did not follow it or obey it received the punishment they deserved.G1063G1487G3056G2980G1223G32G1096G949G2532G3956G3847G2532G3876G2983G1738G3405 3How, then, shall we escape if we pay no attention to such a great salvation? The Lord himself first announced this salvation, and those who heard him proved to us that it is true.G4459G2249G1628G272G5082G4991G3748G746G2983G2980G1223G2962G950G1519G2248G5259G191 4At the same time God added his witness to theirs by performing all kinds of miracles and wonders and by distributing the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to his will.G2316G4901G5037G4592G2532G5059G2532G4164G1411G2532G3311G40G4151G2596G846G2308

The One Who Leads Us to Salvation

5God has not placed the angels as rulers over the new world to come - the world of which we speak.G1063G32G5293G3756G5293G3625G3195G4012G3739G2980 6Instead, as it is said somewhere in the Scriptures: "What are human beings, O God, that you should think of them; mere human beings, that you should care for them?G1161G5100G4225G1263G3004G5101G2076G444G3754G3403G846G2228G5207G444G3754G1980G846 7You made them for a little while lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor,G1642G846G1024G5100G1642G3844G32G4737G846G1391G2532G5092G2532G2525G846G1909G2041G4675G5495 8and made them rulers over all things." It says that God made them "rulers over all things"; this clearly includes everything. We do not, however, see human beings ruling over all things now.G5293G3956G5293G5270G846G4228G1063G1722G5293G3956G5293G846G863G3762G506G846G1161G3568G3708G3768G3956G5293G846 9But we do see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, so that through God's grace he should die for everyone. We see him now crowned with glory and honor because of the death he suffered.G1161G991G2424G3588G1642G1024G5100G1642G3844G32G1223G3804G2288G4737G1391G2532G5092G3704G1089G5485G2316G1089G2288G5228G3956 10It was only right that God, who creates and preserves all things, should make Jesus perfect through suffering, in order to bring many children to share his glory. For Jesus is the one who leads them to salvation.G1063G4241G846G1223G3739G3956G2532G1223G3739G3956G71G4183G5207G1519G1391G5048G747G846G4991G5048G1223G3804 11He purifies people from their sins, and both he and those who are made pure all have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his family.G1063G5037G37G2532G37G3956G1537G1520G1223G3739G156G1870G3756G1870G2564G846G80 12He says to God, "I will tell my people what you have done; I will praise you in their meeting."G3004G518G4675G3686G3450G80G1722G3319G1577G5214G4571 13He also says, "I will put my trust in God." And he also says, "Here I am with the children that God has given me."G2532G3825G1473G2071G3982G1909G846G2532G3825G2400G1473G2532G3813G3739G2316G1325G3427 14Since the children, as he calls them, are people of flesh and blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death,G1893G3767G3813G2841G4561G2532G129G3348G2532G846G3898G3348G846G2443G1223G2288G2673G2192G2904G2288G5123G1228 15and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives because of their fear of death.G2532G525G5128G3745G1223G5401G2288G2258G3956G2198G1777G1397 16For it is clear that it is not the angels that he helps. Instead, he helps the descendants of Abraham.G1063G1222G1949G3756G1949G32G235G1949G4690G11 17This means that he had to become like his people in every way, in order to be their faithful and merciful High Priest in his service to God, so that the people's sins would be forgiven.G3606G2596G3956G3784G3666G80G2443G1096G1655G2532G4103G749G4314G2316G1519G2433G266G2992 18And now he can help those who are tempted, because he himself was tempted and suffered.G1063G1722G3739G3958G846G3958G3985G1410G997G3985
