Rebellion of God’s People

1The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem which he saw during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, [and] Hezekiah, kings of Judah.H2377H3470H1121H531H2372H3063H3389H3117H5818H3147H271H3169H4428H3063 2Listen, O heavens, and hear, O earth; For the LORD speaks, "Sons I have reared and brought up, But they have revolted against Me.H8085H8064H238H776H3068H1696H1431H7311H1121H6586 3"An ox knows its owner, And a donkey its master's manger, [But] Israel does not know, My people do not understand."H7794H3045H7069H2543H1167H18H3478H3045H5971H995 4Alas, sinful nation, People weighed down with iniquity, Offspring of evildoers, Sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned the LORD, They have despised the Holy One of Israel, They have turned away from Him.H1945H2398H1471H5971H3515H5771H2233H7489H1121H7843H5800H853H3068H5006H853H6918H3478H5006H2114H268 5Where will you be stricken again, [As] you continue in [your] rebellion? The whole head is sick, And the whole heart is faint.H5221H5627H3254H7218H2483H3824H1742 6From the sole of the foot even to the head There is nothing sound in it, [Only] bruises, welts, and raw wounds, Not pressed out or bandaged, Nor softened with oil.H3709H7272H7218H4974H6482H2250H2961H4347H2115H2280H7401H8081 7Your land is desolate, Your cities are burned with fire, Your fields— strangers are devouring them in your presence; It is desolation, as overthrown by strangers.H776H8077H5892H8313H784H127H2114H398H8077H4114H2114 8And the daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, Like a watchman's hut in a cucumber field, like a besieged city.H1323H6726H3498H5521H3754H4412H4750H5341H5892 9Unless the LORD of hosts Had left us a few survivors, We would be like Sodom, We would be like Gomorrah.H3884H3068H6635H3498H4592H8300H1961H5467H1819H6017

God Has Had Enough

10Hear the word of the LORD, You rulers of Sodom; Give ear to the instruction of our God, You people of Gomorrah.H8085H1697H3068H7101H5467H238H8451H430H5971H6017 11"What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me?" Says the LORD. "I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams, And the fat of fed cattle. And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats.H4100H7230H2077H559H3068H7646H5930H352H2459H4806H2654H1818H6499H3532H6260 12"When you come to appear before Me, Who requires of you this trampling of My courts?H935H7200H6440H1245H3027H7429H2691 13"Bring your worthless offerings no longer, Incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies— I cannot endure iniquity and the solemn assembly.H935H3254H7723H4503H7004H8441H2320H7676H7121H4744H3201H205H6116 14"I hate your new moon [festivals] and your appointed feasts, They have become a burden to Me. I am weary of bearing [them.]H2320H4150H5315H8130H2960H3811H5375 15"So when you spread out your hands [in prayer,] I will hide My eyes from you, Yes, even though you multiply prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.H6566H3709H5956H5869H7235H8605H8085H3027H4390H1818 16"Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Cease to do evil,H7364H2135H5493H7455H4611H5048H5869H2308H7489 17Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless; Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow.H3925H3190H1875H4941H833H2541H8199H3490H7378H490

“Let Us Reason”

18"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.H3212H3198H559H3068H2399H8144H3835H7950H119H8438H6785 19"If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land;H14H8085H398H2898H776 20"But if you refuse and rebel, You will be devoured by the sword." Truly, the mouth of the LORD has spoken.H3985H4784H398H2719H6310H3068H1696

Zion Corrupted, to Be Redeemed

21How the faithful city has become a harlot, She [who] was full of justice! Righteousness once lodged in her, But now murderers.H539H7151H2181H4392H4941H6664H3885H7523 22Your silver has become dross, Your drink diluted with water.H3701H5509H5435H4107H4325 23Your rulers are rebels, And companions of thieves; Everyone loves a bribe, And chases after rewards. They do not defend the orphan, Nor does the widow's plea come before them.H8269H5637H2270H1590H157H7810H7291H8021H8199H3490H7379H490H935 24Therefore the Lord GOD of hosts, The Mighty One of Israel declares, "Ah, I will be relieved of My adversaries, And avenge Myself on My foes.H5002H113H3068H6635H46H3478H1945H5162H6862H5358H341 25"I will also turn My hand against you, And will smelt away your dross as with lye, And will remove all your alloy.H7725H3027H1253H6884H5509H5493H913 26"Then I will restore your judges as at the first, And your counselors as at the beginning; After that you will be called the city of righteousness, A faithful city."H7725H8199H7223H3289H8462H310H7121H5892H6664H539H7151 27Zion will be redeemed with justice, And her repentant ones with righteousness.H6726H6299H4941H7725H6666 28But transgressors and sinners will be crushed together, And those who forsake the LORD shall come to an end.H7667H6586H2400H3162H5800H3068H3615 29Surely, you will be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, And you will be embarrassed at the gardens which you have chosen.H954H352H2530H2659H1593H977 30For you will be like an oak whose leaf fades away, Or as a garden that has no water.H424H5929H5034H1593H4325 31And the strong man will become tinder, His work also a spark. Thus they shall both burn together, And there will be none to quench [them].H2634H5296H6467H5213H8147H1197H3162H3518
