Proclamation Against Tyre

23The burden against Tyre. Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, So that there is no house, no harbor; From the land of Cyprus it is revealed to them.H4853H6865H3213H591H8659H7703H1004H935H776H3794H1540 2Be still, you inhabitants of the coastland, You merchants of Sidon, Whom those who cross the sea have filled.H1826H3427H339H5503H6721H5674H3220H4390 3And on great waters the grain of Shihor, The harvest of the River, is her revenue; And she is a marketplace for the nations.H7227H4325H2233H7883H7105H2975H8393H5505H1471 4Be ashamed, O Sidon; For the sea has spoken, The strength of the sea, saying, "I do not labor, nor bring forth children; Neither do I rear young men, Nor bring up virgins."H954H6721H3220H559H4581H3220H559H2342H3205H1431H970H7311H1330 5When the report reaches Egypt, They also will be in agony at the report of Tyre.H8088H4714H2342H8088H6865 6Cross over to Tarshish; Wail, you inhabitants of the coastland!H5674H8659H3213H3427H339 7Is this your joyous city, Whose antiquity is from ancient days, Whose feet carried her far off to dwell?H5947H6927H6924H3117H7272H2986H7350H1481 8Who has taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, Whose merchants are princes, Whose traders are the honorable of the earth?H3289H6865H5849H5503H8269H3667H3513H776 9The LORD of hosts has purposed it, To bring to dishonor the pride of all glory, To bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.H3068H6635H3289H2490H1347H6643H7043H3513H776 10Overflow through your land like the River, O daughter of Tarshish; There is no more strength.H5674H776H2975H1323H8659H4206 11He stretched out His hand over the sea, He shook the kingdoms; The LORD has given a commandment against Canaan To destroy its strongholds.H5186H3027H3220H7264H4467H3068H6680H3667H8045H4581H4581 12And He said, "You will rejoice no more, O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, cross over to Cyprus; There also you will have no rest."H559H3254H5937H6231H1330H1323H6721H6965H5674H3794H5117 13Behold, the land of the Chaldeans, This people which was not; Assyria founded it for wild beasts of the desert. They set up its towers, They raised up its palaces, And brought it to ruin.H776H3778H5971H804H3245H6728H6965H971H6209H759H7760H4654 14Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For your strength is laid waste.H3213H591H8659H4581H7703 15Now it shall come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot:H3117H6865H7911H7657H8141H3117H259H4428H7093H7657H8141H6865H7892H2181 16"Take a harp, go about the city, You forgotten harlot; Make sweet melody, sing many songs, That you may be remembered."H3947H3658H5437H5892H2181H7911H3190H5059H7235H7892H2142 17And it shall be, at the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre. She will return to her hire, and commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth.H7093H7657H8141H3068H6485H6865H7725H868H2181H4467H776H6440H127 18Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the LORD; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.H5504H868H6944H3068H686H2630H5504H3427H6440H3068H398H7654H6266H4374
