Woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem

28Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, Whose glorious beauty is a fading flower Which is at the head of the verdant valleys, To those who are overcome with wine!H1945H5850H1348H7910H669H6643H8597H5034H6731H7218H8081H1516H1986H3196 2Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one, Like a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, Like a flood of mighty waters overflowing, Who will bring them down to the earth with His hand.H136H2389H533H2230H1259H6986H8178H2230H3524H4325H7857H3240H776H3027 3The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, Will be trampled underfoot;H5850H1348H7910H669H7429H7272 4And the glorious beauty is a fading flower Which is at the head of the verdant valley, Like the first fruit before the summer, Which an observer sees; He eats it up while it is still in his hand.H6643H8597H7218H8081H1516H5034H6733H1061H7019H7200H7200H3709H1104 5In that day the LORD of hosts will be For a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty To the remnant of His people,H3117H3068H6635H5850H6643H6843H8597H7605H5971 6For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, And for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.H7307H4941H3427H4941H1369H7725H4421H8179 7But they also have erred through wine, And through intoxicating drink are out of the way; The priest and the prophet have erred through intoxicating drink, They are swallowed up by wine, They are out of the way through intoxicating drink; They err in vision, they stumble in judgment.H428H7686H3196H7941H8582H3548H5030H7686H7941H1104H4480H3196H8582H7941H7686H7203H6328H6417 8For all tables are full of vomit and filth; No place is clean.H7979H4390H6892H6675H4725 9"Whom will he teach knowledge? And whom will he make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just drawn from the breasts?H3384H1844H995H8052H1580H2461H6267H7699 10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little."H6673H6673H6673H6673H6957H6957H6957H6957H2191H2191 11For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people,H3934H8193H312H3956H1696H5971 12To whom He said, "This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest," And, "This is the refreshing"; Yet they would not hear.H559H4496H5889H5117H4774H14H8085 13But the word of the LORD was to them, "Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little," That they might go and fall backward, and be broken And snared and caught.H1697H3068H6673H6673H6673H6673H6957H6957H6957H6957H2191H2191H3212H3782H268H7665H3369H3920 14Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scornful men, Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,H8085H1697H3068H3944H582H4910H5971H3389 15Because you have said, "We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves."H559H3772H1285H4194H7585H6213H2374H7857H7752H7885H5674H5674H935H7760H3577H4268H8267H5641

A Cornerstone in Zion

16Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.H559H136H3069H3245H6726H68H976H68H3368H6438H3245H4143H539H2363 17Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place.H4941H7760H6957H6666H4949H1259H3261H4268H3577H4325H7857H5643 18Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it.H1285H4194H3722H2380H7585H6965H7857H7752H5674H4823 19As often as it goes out it will take you; For morning by morning it will pass over, And by day and by night; It will be a terror just to understand the report."H1767H5674H3947H1242H1242H5674H3117H3915H2113H995H8052 20For the bed is too short to stretch out on, And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it.H4702H7114H8311H4541H6887H3664 21For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon—That He may do His work, His awesome work, And bring to pass His act, His unusual act.H3068H6965H2022H6559H7264H6010H1391H6213H4639H2114H4639H5647H5656H5237H5656 22Now therefore, do not be mockers, Lest your bonds be made strong; For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts, A destruction determined even upon the whole earth.H3887H4147H2388H8085H136H3069H6635H3617H2782H776

Listen to the Teaching of God

23Give ear and hear my voice, Listen and hear my speech.H238H8085H6963H7181H8085H565 24Does the plowman keep plowing all day to sow? Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods?H2790H2790H3117H2232H6605H7702H127 25When he has leveled its surface, Does he not sow the black cummin And scatter the cummin, Plant the wheat in rows, The barley in the appointed place, And the spelt in its place?H7737H6440H6327H7100H2236H3646H7760H7795H2406H5567H8184H3698H1367 26For He instructs him in right judgment, His God teaches him.H430H3256H4941H3384 27For the black cummin is not threshed with a threshing sledge, Nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cummin; But the black cummin is beaten out with a stick, And the cummin with a rod.H7100H1758H2742H5699H212H5437H3646H7100H2251H4294H3646H7626 28Bread flour must be ground; Therefore he does not thresh it forever, Break it with his cartwheel, Or crush it with his horsemen.H3899H1854H5331H156H1758H2000H1536H5699H1854H6571 29This also comes from the LORD of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.H3318H3068H6635H6381H6098H1431H8454
