Woe to Jerusalem

29Woe to Ariel, Ariel, the city where David camped! Continue year after year; let the festivals recur.H1945H740H740H7151H1732H2583H5595H8141H8141H5362H2282
2I will oppress Ariel, and there will be mourning and crying, and she will be to Me like an Ariel.H6693H740H8386H592H740
3I will camp in a circle around you; I will besiege you with earth ramps, and I will set up my siege towers against you.H2583H1754H6696H4674H6965H4694
4You will be brought down; you will speak from the ground, and your words will come from low in the dust. Your voice will be like that of a spirit from the ground; your speech will whisper from the dust.H8213H1696H776H565H7817H6083H6963H178H776H565H6850H6083
5The multitude of your foes will be like fine dust, and the multitude of the ruthless, like blowing chaff. Then suddenly, in an instant,H1995H2114H1851H80H1995H6184H4671H5674H6621H6597
6you will be visited by the LORD of Hosts with thunder, earthquake, and loud noise, storm, tempest, and a flame of consuming fire.H6485H3068H6635H7482H7494H1419H6963H5492H5591H3851H398H784
7The multitude of all the nations going out to battle against Ariel— all the attackers, the siege-works against her, and those who oppress her— will then be like a dream, a vision in the night.H1995H1471H6633H740H6638H4685H6693H2472H3915H2377
8It will be like a hungry one who dreams he is eating, then wakes and is still hungry; and like a thirsty one who dreams he is drinking, then wakes and is still thirsty, longing for water. So will be the multitude of all the nations who go to battle against Mount Zion.H7457H2492H398H6974H5315H7386H834H6771H2492H8354H6974H5889H5315H8264H1995H1471H6633H2022H6726
9Stop and be astonished; blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with beer.H4102H8539H8173H8173H7937H3196H5128H7941
10For the LORD has poured out on you an overwhelming urge to sleep; He has shut your eyes— the prophets, and covered your heads— the seers.H3068H5258H7307H8639H6105H5869H5030H7218H2374H3680
11For you the entire vision will be like the words of a sealed document. If it is given to one who can read and he is asked to read it, he will say, "I can't read it, because it is sealed."H2380H1697H5612H2856H5414H3045H559H7121H559H3201H2856
12And if the document is given to one who cannot read and he is asked to read it, he will say, "I can't read."H5612H5414H3045H5612H559H7121H559H3045
13The Lord said: Because these people approach Me with their mouths to honor Me with lip-service— yet their hearts are far from Me, and their worship [consists of] man-made rules learned [by rote]—H136H559H3282H5971H5066H6310H8193H3513H7368H3820H7368H3374H3925H4687H582
14therefore I will again confound these people with wonder after wonder. The wisdom of their wise men will vanish, and the understanding of the perceptive will be hidden.H3254H6381H5971H6381H6382H2451H2450H6H998H995H5641
15Woe to those who go to great lengths to hide their plans from the LORD. [They do] their works in darkness, and say, "Who sees us? Who knows us?"H1945H6009H5641H6098H3068H4639H4285H559H7200H3045
16You have turned things around, as if the potter were the same as the clay. How can what is made say about its maker, "He didn't make me"? How can what is formed say about the one who formed it, "He doesn't understand [what he's doing]"?H2017H2803H3335H2563H4639H559H6213H6213H3336H559H3335H995
17Isn't [it true that] in just a little while Lebanon will become an orchard, and the orchard will seem like a forest?H4213H4592H3844H7725H3759H3759H2803H3293
18On that day the deaf will hear the words of a document, and out of a deep darkness the eyes of the blind will see.H3117H2795H8085H1697H5612H5869H5787H7200H652H2822
19The humble will have joy after joy in the LORD, and the poor people will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.H6035H3254H8057H3068H34H120H1523H6918H3478
20For the ruthless one will vanish, the scorner will disappear, and all those who lie in wait with evil intent will be killed—H6184H656H3887H3615H8245H205H3772
21those who, with [their] speech, accuse a person of wrongdoing, who set a trap at the gate for the mediator, and without cause deprive the righteous of justice.H120H2398H1697H6983H3198H8179H5186H6662H8414
22Therefore, the LORD who redeemed Abraham says this about the house of Jacob: Jacob will no longer be ashamed and his face will no longer be pale.H559H3068H6299H85H1004H3290H3290H954H6440H2357
23For when he sees his children, the work of My hands within his [nation], they will honor My name, they will honor the Holy One of Jacob and stand in awe of the God of Israel.H7200H3206H4639H3027H7130H6942H8034H6942H6918H3290H6206H430H3478
24Those who are confused will gain understanding and those who grumble will accept instruction.H8582H7307H3045H998H7279H3925H3948
