Judah Warned against Egyptian Alliance

30"Woe to the rebellious children," declares the LORD, "Who execute a plan, but not Mine, And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, In order to add sin to sin;H1945H5637H1121H5002H3068H6213H6098H5258H4541H7307H5595H2403H2403 2Who proceed down to Egypt, Without consulting Me, To take refuge in the safety of Pharaoh, And to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!H1980H3381H4714H7592H6310H5810H4581H6547H2620H6738H4714 3"Therefore the safety of Pharaoh will be your shame, And the shelter in the shadow of Egypt, your humiliation.H4581H6547H1322H2622H6738H4714H3639 4"For their princes are at Zoan, And their ambassadors arrive at Hanes.H8269H6814H4397H5060H2609 5"Everyone will be ashamed because of a people who cannot profit them, [Who are] not for help or profit, but for shame and also for reproach."H3001H5971H3276H5828H3276H1322H2781 6The oracle concerning the beasts of the Negev. Through a land of distress and anguish, From where [come] lioness and lion, viper and flying serpent, They carry their riches on the backs of young donkeys And their treasures on camels' humps, To a people who cannot profit [them;]H4853H929H5045H776H6869H6695H3833H3918H660H8314H5774H8314H5375H2428H3802H5895H214H1707H1581H5971H3276 7Even Egypt, whose help is vain and empty. Therefore, I have called her "Rahab who has been exterminated."H4714H5826H1892H7385H7121H2063H1992H7293H7674 8Now go, write it on a tablet before them And inscribe it on a scroll, That it may serve in the time to come As a witness forever.H935H3789H3871H2710H5612H3117H314H5704H5703H5769 9For this is a rebellious people, false sons, Sons who refuse to listen To the instruction of the LORD;H4805H5971H3586H1121H1121H14H8085H8451H3068 10Who say to the seers, "You must not see [visions";] And to the prophets, "You must not prophesy to us what is right, Speak to us pleasant words, Prophesy illusions.H559H7200H7200H2374H2372H5229H1696H2513H2372H4123 11"Get out of the way, turn aside from the path, Let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel."H5493H1870H5186H734H6918H3478H7673H6440 12Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, "Since you have rejected this word, And have put your trust in oppression and guile, and have relied on them,H559H6918H3478H3988H1697H982H6233H3868H8172 13Therefore this iniquity will be to you Like a breach about to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose collapse comes suddenly in an instant.H5771H6556H5307H1158H7682H2346H7667H935H6597H6621 14"And whose collapse is like the smashing of a potter's jar; So ruthlessly shattered That a sherd will not be found among its pieces To take fire from a hearth, Or to scoop water from a cistern."H7665H7667H3335H5035H3807H2550H4672H4386H2789H2846H784H3344H2834H4325H1360 15For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, "In repentance and rest you shall be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength." But you were not willing,H559H136H3069H6918H3478H7729H5183H3467H8252H985H1369H14 16And you said, "No, for we will flee on horses," Therefore you shall flee! "And we will ride on swift [horses,]" Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift.H559H5127H5483H5127H7392H7031H7291H7043 17One thousand [shall flee] at the threat of one [man,] You shall flee at the threat of five; Until you are left as a flag on a mountain top, And as a signal on a hill.H259H505H6440H1606H259H6440H1606H2568H5127H3498H8650H7218H2022H5251H1389

God Is Gracious and Just

18Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.H3068H2442H2603H7311H7355H3068H430H4941H835H2442 19O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.H5971H3427H6726H3389H1058H1058H2603H2603H6963H2199H8085H6030 20Although the Lord has given you bread of privation and water of oppression, [He,] your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher.H136H5414H3899H6862H4325H3906H3384H3670H5869H7200H3384 21And your ears will hear a word behind you, "This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right or to the left.H241H8085H1697H310H559H1870H3212H541H8041 22And you will defile your graven images, overlaid with silver, and your molten images plated with gold. You will scatter them as an impure thing; [and] say to them, "Be gone!"H2930H6826H6456H3701H642H4541H2091H2219H1739H559H3318 23Then He will give [you] rain for the seed which you will sow in the ground, and bread [from] the yield of the ground, and it will be rich and plenteous; on that day your livestock will graze in a roomy pasture.H5414H4306H2233H2232H127H3899H8393H127H1879H8082H3117H4735H7462H7337H3733 24Also the oxen and the donkeys which work the ground will eat salted fodder, which has been winnowed with shovel and fork.H504H5895H5647H127H398H2548H1098H2219H7371H4214 25And on every lofty mountain and on every high hill there will be streams running with water on the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.H1364H2022H5375H1389H6388H2988H4325H3117H7227H2027H4026H5307 26And the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times [brighter,] like the light of seven days, on the day the LORD binds up the fracture of His people and heals the bruise He has inflicted.H216H3842H216H2535H216H2535H7659H216H7651H3117H3117H3068H2280H7667H5971H7495H4273H4347 27Behold, the name of the LORD comes from a remote place; Burning is His anger, and dense is [His] smoke; His lips are filled with indignation, And His tongue is like a consuming fire;H8034H3068H935H4801H1197H639H4858H3514H8193H4390H2195H3956H398H784 28And His breath is like an overflowing torrent, Which reaches to the neck, To shake the nations back and forth in a sieve, And to [put] in the jaws of the peoples the bridle which leads to ruin.H7307H7857H5158H2673H6677H5130H1471H5299H7723H7448H3895H5971H8582 29You will have songs as in the night when you keep the festival; And gladness of heart as when one marches to [the sound of] the flute, To go to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel.H7892H3915H6942H2282H6942H8057H3824H1980H2485H935H2022H3068H6697H3478 30And the LORD will cause His voice of authority to be heard. And the descending of His arm to be seen in fierce anger, And [in] the flame of a consuming fire, In cloudburst, downpour, and hailstones.H3068H1935H6963H8085H7200H5183H2220H2197H639H3851H398H784H5311H2230H68H1259 31For at the voice of the LORD Assyria will be terrified, [When] He strikes with the rod.H6963H3068H804H2865H5221H7626 32And every blow of the rod of punishment, Which the LORD will lay on him, Will be with [the music of] tambourines and lyres; And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them.H3605H4145H4294H4569H3068H5117H8596H3658H4421H8573H3898 33For Topheth has long been ready, Indeed, it has been prepared for the king. He has made it deep and large, A pyre of fire with plenty of wood; The breath of the LORD, like a torrent of brimstone, sets it afire.H8613H6186H865H4428H3559H6009H7337H4071H784H7235H6086H5397H3068H5158H1614H1197
