A Prayer in Deep Distress

33Woe to you who plunder, though you have not been plundered; And you who deal treacherously, though they have not dealt treacherously with you! When you cease plundering, You will be plundered; When you make an end of dealing treacherously, They will deal treacherously with you.H1945H7703H7703H898H898H8552H7703H7703H5239H898H898 2O LORD, be gracious to us; We have waited for You. Be their arm every morning, Our salvation also in the time of trouble.H3068H2603H6960H2220H1242H3444H6256H6869 3At the noise of the tumult the people shall flee; When You lift Yourself up, the nations shall be scattered;H6963H1995H5971H5074H7427H1471H5310 4And Your plunder shall be gathered Like the gathering of the caterpillar; As the running to and fro of locusts, He shall run upon them.H7998H622H625H2625H4944H1357H8264 5The LORD is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.H3068H7682H7931H4791H4390H6726H4941H6666 6Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the LORD is His treasure.H2451H1847H530H6256H2633H3444H3374H3068H214 7Surely their valiant ones shall cry outside, The ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.H691H6817H2351H4397H7965H1058H4751 8The highways lie waste, The traveling man ceases. He has broken the covenant, He has despised the cities, He regards no man.H4546H8074H5674H734H7673H6565H1285H3988H5892H2803H582 9The earth mourns and languishes, Lebanon is shamed and shriveled; Sharon is like a wilderness, And Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.H776H56H535H3844H2659H7060H8289H6160H1316H3760H5287

Impending Judgment on Zion

10"Now I will rise," says the LORD; "Now I will be exalted, Now I will lift Myself up.H6965H559H3068H7426H5375 11You shall conceive chaff, You shall bring forth stubble; Your breath, as fire, shall devour you.H2029H2842H3205H7179H7307H784H398 12And the people shall be like the burnings of lime; Like thorns cut up they shall be burned in the fire.H5971H4955H7875H6975H3683H3341H784 13Hear, you who are afar off, what I have done; And you who are near, acknowledge My might."H8085H7350H6213H7138H3045H1369 14The sinners in Zion are afraid; Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites: "Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?"H2400H6726H6342H7461H270H2611H1481H398H784H1481H5769H4168 15He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil:H1980H6666H1696H4339H3988H1215H4642H5287H3709H8551H7810H331H241H8085H1818H6105H5869H7200H7451 16He will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread will be given him, His water will be sure.H7931H4791H4869H4679H5553H3899H5414H4325H539

The Land of the Majestic King

17Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will see the land that is very far off.H5869H2372H4428H3308H7200H776H4801 18Your heart will meditate on terror: "Where is the scribe? Where is he who weighs? Where is he who counts the towers?"H3820H1897H367H5608H8254H5608H4026 19You will not see a fierce people, A people of obscure speech, beyond perception, Of a stammering tongue that you cannot understand.H7200H3267H5971H5971H6012H8193H8085H3932H3956H998 20Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, A tabernacle that will not be taken down; Not one of its stakes will ever be removed, Nor will any of its cords be broken.H2372H6726H7151H4150H5869H7200H3389H7600H5116H168H6813H3489H5331H5265H2256H5423 21But there the majestic LORD will be for us A place of broad rivers and streams, In which no galley with oars will sail, Nor majestic ships pass byH117H3068H4725H7342H3027H5104H2975H3212H1077H590H7885H117H6716H5674 22(For the LORD is our Judge, The LORD is our Lawgiver, The LORD is our King; He will save us);H3068H8199H3068H2710H3068H4428H3467 23Your tackle is loosed, They could not strengthen their mast, They could not spread the sail. Then the prey of great plunder is divided; The lame take the prey.H2256H5203H3653H2388H8650H6566H5251H5706H4766H7998H2505H6455H962H957 24And the inhabitant will not say, "I am sick"; The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity.H7934H559H2470H5971H3427H5375H5771
