Hezekiah Healed

38In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, 'Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.'"H3117H2396H2470H4191H3470H5030H1121H531H935H559H559H3068H1004H6680H4191H2421 2Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the LORD,H2396H5437H6440H7023H6419H3068 3and said, "Remember now, O LORD, I beseech Thee, how I have walked before Thee in truth and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in Thy sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.H559H2142H3068H577H1980H6440H571H8003H3820H6213H2896H5869H2396H1058H1065H1419 4Then the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying,H1697H3068H3470H559 5"Go and say to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of your father David," I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.H1980H559H2396H559H3068H430H1732H1H8085H8605H7200H1832H3254H3117H2568H6240H8141 6"And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city." 'H5337H5892H3709H4428H804H1598H5892 7"And this shall be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that He has spoken:H226H3068H3068H6213H1697H1696 8"Behold, I will cause the shadow on the stairway, which has gone down with the sun on the stairway of Ahaz, to go back ten steps." So the sun's [shadow] went back ten steps on the stairway on which it had gone down.H7725H6738H4609H3381H8121H4609H271H6235H4609H322H8121H7725H6235H4609H4609H3381 9A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, after his illness and recovery:H4385H2396H4428H3063H2470H2421H2483 10I said, "In the middle of my life I am to enter the gates of Sheol; I am to be deprived of the rest of my years."H559H1824H3117H3212H8179H7585H6485H3499H8141 11I said, "I shall not see the LORD, The LORD in the land of the living; I shall look on man no more among the inhabitants of the world.H559H7200H3050H3050H776H2416H5027H120H3427H2309 12"Like a shepherd's tent my dwelling is pulled up and removed from me; As a weaver I rolled up my life. He cuts me off from the loom; From day until night Thou dost make an end of me.H1755H5265H1540H7473H168H7088H707H2416H1214H1803H3117H3915H7999 13"I composed [my soul] until morning. Like a lion— so He breaks all my bones, From day until night Thou dost make an end of me.H7737H1242H738H7665H6106H3117H3915H7999 14"Like a swallow, [like] a crane, so I twitter; I moan like a dove; My eyes look wistfully to the heights; O Lord, I am oppressed, be my security.H5483H5693H6850H1897H3123H5869H1809H4791H3068H6234H6148 15"What shall I say? For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it; I shall wander about all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.H1696H559H6213H1718H8141H4751H5315 16"O Lord, by [these] things [men] live; And in all these is the life of my spirit; O restore me to health, and let me live!H136H2421H2416H7307H2492H2421 17"Lo, for [my own] welfare I had great bitterness; It is Thou who hast kept my soul from the pit of nothingness, For Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thy back.H7965H4751H4843H2836H5315H7845H1097H7993H2399H310H1460 18"For Sheol cannot thank Thee, Death cannot praise Thee; Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Thy faithfulness.H7585H3034H4194H1984H3381H953H7663H571 19"It is the living who give thanks to Thee, as I do today; A father tells his sons about Thy faithfulness.H2416H2416H3034H3117H1H1121H3045H571 20"The LORD will surely save me; So we will play my songs on stringed instruments All [the] days of our life at the house of the LORD."H3068H3467H5058H5059H3117H2416H1004H3068 21Now Isaiah had said, "Let them take a cake of figs, and apply it to the boil, that he may recover."H3470H559H5375H1690H8384H4799H7822H2421 22Then Hezekiah had said, "What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?"H2396H559H226H5927H1004H3068
