Isaiah 46
Amplified Bible Help
46BEL BOWS down, Nebo stoops [gods of Babylon, whose idols are being carried off]; their idols are on the beasts [of burden] and on the cattle. These things that you carry about are loaded as burdens on the weary beasts.H1078H3766H5015H7164H6091H2416H929H5385H6006H4853H5889 2[The gods] stoop, they bow down together; they cannot save [their own idols], but are themselves going into captivity.H7164H3766H3162H3201H4422H4853H5315H1980H7628 3Listen to Me [says the Lord], O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, you who have been borne by Me from your birth, carried from the womb:H8085H1004H3290H7611H1004H3478H6006H990H5375H7356 4Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you.H2209H7872H5445H6213H5375H5445H4422 5To whom will you liken Me and make Me equal and compare Me, that we may be alike?H1819H7737H4911H1819 6They lavish gold out of the cup {or} bag, weigh out silver on the scales, and hire a goldsmith, and he fashions it into a god; [then] they fall down, yes, they worship it!H2107H2091H3599H8254H3701H7070H7936H6884H6213H410H5456H7812 7They bear it upon their shoulders [in religious processions or into battle]; they carry it and set it down in its place, and there it stands. It cannot move from its place. Even if one cries to it for help, yet [the idol] cannot answer or save him out of his distress.H5375H3802H5445H3240H5975H4725H4185H6817H6030H3467H6869 8[Earnestly] remember this, be ashamed {and} own yourselves guilty; bring it again to mind {and} lay it to heart, O you rebels!H2142H377H7725H3820H6586 9[Earnestly] remember the former things, [which I did] of old; for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is none like Me,H2142H7223H5769H410H430H657H3644 10Declaring the end {and} the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure {and} purpose,H5046H319H7225H6924H6213H559H6098H6965H6213H2656 11Calling a ravenous bird from the east--the man [Cyrus] who executes My counsel from a far country. Yes, I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed it, and I will do it.H7121H5861H4217H376H6098H4801H776H1696H935H3335H6213 12Listen to Me, you stiff-hearted {and} you who have lost heart, you who are far from righteousness (from uprightness and right standing with God, and from His righteous deliverance).H8085H47H3820H7350H6666 13I bring near My righteousness [in the deliverance of Israel], it will not be far off; and My salvation shall not tarry. And I will put salvation in Zion, for Israel My glory [yes, give salvation in Zion and My glory to Israel].H7126H6666H7368H8668H309H5414H8668H6726H3478H8597
