Babylon’s Idols and the True God

46Bel has bowed down, Nebo stoops over; Their images are [consigned] to the beasts and the cattle. The things that you carry are burdensome, A load for the weary [beast.]H1078H3766H5015H7164H6091H2416H929H5385H6006H4853H5889 2They stooped over, they have bowed down together; They could not rescue the burden, But have themselves gone into captivity.H7164H3766H3162H3201H4422H4853H5315H1980H7628 3"Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, You who have been borne by Me from birth, And have been carried from the womb;H8085H1004H3290H7611H1004H3478H6006H990H5375H7356 4Even to your old age, I shall be the same, And even to your graying years I shall bear [you!] I have done [it,] and I shall carry [you;] And I shall bear [you,] and I shall deliver [you.]H2209H7872H5445H6213H5375H5445H4422 5"To whom would you liken Me, And make Me equal and compare Me, That we should be alike?H1819H7737H4911H1819 6"Those who lavish gold from the purse And weigh silver on the scale Hire a goldsmith, and he makes it [into] a god; They bow down, indeed they worship it.H2107H2091H3599H8254H3701H7070H7936H6884H6213H410H5456H7812 7"They lift it upon the shoulder and carry it; They set it in its place and it stands [there.] It does not move from its place. Though one may cry to it, it cannot answer; It cannot deliver him from his distress.H5375H3802H5445H3240H5975H4725H4185H6817H6030H3467H6869 8"Remember this, and be assured; Recall it to mind, you transgressors.H2142H377H7725H3820H6586 9"Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; [I am] God, and there is no one like Me,H2142H7223H5769H410H430H657H3644 10Declaring the end from the beginning And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure';H5046H319H7225H6924H6213H559H6098H6965H6213H2656 11Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned [it, surely] I will do it.H7121H5861H4217H376H6098H4801H776H1696H935H3335H6213 12"Listen to Me, you stubborn-minded, Who are far from righteousness.H8085H47H3820H7350H6666 13"I bring near My righteousness, it is not far off; And My salvation will not delay. And I will grant salvation in Zion, [And] My glory for Israel.H7126H6666H7368H8668H309H5414H8668H6726H3478H8597
