Good News Translation Help
53The people reply, "Who would have believed what we now report? Who could have seen the LORD's hand in this?H539H8052H2220H3068H1540 2It was the will of the LORD that his servant grow like a plant taking root in dry ground. He had no dignity or beauty to make us take notice of him. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing that would draw us to him.H5927H6440H3126H8328H6723H776H8389H1926H7200H4758H2530 3We despised him and rejected him; he endured suffering and pain. No one would even look at him - we ignored him as if he were nothing.H959H2310H376H376H4341H3045H2483H4564H6440H959H2803 4"But he endured the suffering that should have been ours, the pain that we should have borne. All the while we thought that his suffering was punishment sent by God.H403H5375H2483H5445H4341H2803H5060H5221H430H6031 5But because of our sins he was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.H2490H6588H1792H5771H4148H7965H2250H7495 6All of us were like sheep that were lost, each of us going his own way. But the LORD made the punishment fall on him, the punishment all of us deserved.H6629H8582H6437H376H1870H3068H6293H5771 7"He was treated harshly, but endured it humbly; he never said a word. Like a lamb about to be slaughtered, like a sheep about to be sheared, he never said a word.H5065H6031H6605H6310H2986H7716H2874H7353H6440H1494H481H6605H6310 8He was arrested and sentenced and led off to die, and no one cared about his fate. He was put to death for the sins of our people.H3947H6115H4941H7878H1755H1504H776H2416H6588H5971H5061 9He was placed in a grave with those who are evil, he was buried with the rich, even though he had never committed a crime or ever told a lie."H5414H6913H7563H6223H4194H6213H2555H4820H6310 10The LORD says, "It was my will that he should suffer; his death was a sacrifice to bring forgiveness. And so he will see his descendants; he will live a long life, and through him my purpose will succeed.H2654H3068H1792H2470H7760H5315H817H7200H2233H748H3117H2656H3068H6743H3027 11After a life of suffering, he will again have joy; he will know that he did not suffer in vain. My devoted servant, with whom I am pleased, will bear the punishment of many and for his sake I will forgive them.H7200H5999H5315H7646H1847H6662H5650H6663H7227H5445H5771 12And so I will give him a place of honor, a place among the great and powerful. He willingly gave his life and shared the fate of evil men. He took the place of many sinners and prayed that they might be forgiven."H2505H7227H2505H7998H6099H6168H5315H4194H4487H6586H5375H2399H7227H6293H6586
