Isaiah 66
Amplified Bible Help
66THUS SAYS the Lord: Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool. What kind of house would you build for Me? And what kind can be My resting-place?H559H3068H8064H3678H776H7272H1916H1004H1129H4725H4496 2For all these things My hand has made, and so all these things have come into being [by and for Me], says the Lord. But this is the man to whom I will look {and} have regard: he who is humble and of a broken {or} wounded spirit, and who trembles at My word {and} reveres My commands.H3027H6213H5002H3068H5027H6041H5223H7307H2730H1697 3[The acts of the hypocrite's worship are as abominable to God as if they were offered to idols.] He who kills an ox [then] will be as guilty as if he slew {and} sacrificed a man; he who sacrifices a lamb {or} a kid, as if he broke a dog's neck {and} sacrificed him; he who offers a cereal offering, as if he offered swine's blood; he who burns incense [to God], as if he blessed an idol. [Such people] have chosen their own ways, and they delight in their abominations;H7819H7794H5221H376H2076H7716H6202H3611H6202H5927H4503H2386H1818H2142H3828H1288H205H977H1870H5315H2654H8251 4So I also will choose their delusions {and} mockings, their calamities {and} afflictions, and I will bring their fears upon them--because when I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they did not listen {or} obey. But they did what was evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.H977H8586H935H4035H7121H6030H1696H8085H6213H7451H5869H977H2654 5Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at His word: Your brethren who hate you, who cast you out for My name's sake, have said, Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy! But it is they who shall be put to shame.H8085H1697H3068H2730H1697H251H8130H5077H8034H559H3068H3513H7200H8057H954 6[Hark!] An uproar from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of the Lord, rendering recompense to His enemies!H6963H7588H5892H6963H1964H6963H3068H7999H1576H341 7Before [Zion] travailed, she gave birth; before her pain came upon her, she was delivered of a male child.H2342H3205H2256H935H4422H2145 8Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Or shall a nation be brought forth in a moment? For as soon as Zion was in labor, she brought forth her children.H8085H7200H776H2342H259H3117H1471H3205H6471H1571H6726H2342H3205H1121 9Shall I bring to the [moment of] birth and not cause to bring forth? says the Lord. Shall I Who causes to bring forth shut the womb? says your God.H7665H3205H559H3068H589H3205H6113H559H430 10Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her,H8055H3389H1523H157H7797H4885H56 11That you may nurse and be satisfied from her consoling breasts, that you may drink deeply and be delighted with the abundance {and} brightness of her glory.H3243H7646H7699H8575H4711H6026H2123H3519 12For thus says the Lord: Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; then you will be nursed, you will be carried on her hip and trotted [lovingly bounced up and down] on her [God's maternal] knees.H559H3068H5186H7965H5104H3519H1471H7857H5158H3243H5375H6654H8173H1290 13As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.H376H517H5162H5162H5162H3389 14When you see this, your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like green {and} tender grass. And the [powerful] hand of the Lord shall be revealed {and} known to be with His servants, but His indignation [shown] to be against His enemies.H7200H3820H7797H6106H6524H1877H3027H3068H3045H5650H2194H341 15For behold, the Lord will come in fire, and His chariots will be like the stormy wind, to render His anger with fierceness, and His rebuke with flames of fire.H3068H935H784H4818H5492H7725H639H2534H1606H3851H784 16For by fire and by His sword will the Lord execute judgment upon all flesh, and the slain of the Lord will be many.H784H2719H3068H8199H1320H2491H3068H7231 17Those who [attempt to] sanctify themselves and cleanse themselves to enter [and sacrifice to idols] in the gardens, following after one in the midst, eating hog's flesh and the abomination [creeping things] and the [mouse--their works and their thoughts] shall come to an end together, says the Lord.H6942H2891H1593H310H259H8432H398H2386H1320H8263H5909H5486H3162H5002H3068 18For I know their works and their thoughts. And the time is coming when I will gather all nations and tongues, and they will come and see My glory.H4639H4284H935H6908H1471H3956H935H7200H3519 19And I will set up a [miraculous] sign among them, and from them I will send survivors to the nations--to Tarshish, Pul (Put), and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal and Javan, to the isles {and} coastlands afar off that have not heard of My fame nor seen My glory. And they will declare {and} proclaim My glory among the nations.H7760H226H7971H6412H1471H8659H6322H3865H4900H7198H8422H3120H339H7350H8085H8088H7200H3519H5046H3519H1471 20And they shall bring all your brethren from all the nations as an offering to the Lord--upon horses and in chariots and in litters and upon mules and upon camels--to My holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, just as the children of Israel bring their cereal offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord.H935H251H4503H3068H1471H5483H7393H6632H6505H3753H6944H2022H3389H559H3068H1121H3478H935H4503H2889H3627H1004H3068 21And I will also take some of them for priests and for Levites, says the Lord.H3947H3548H3881H559H3068 22For as the new heavens and the new earth which I make shall remain before Me, says the Lord, so shall your offspring and your name remain.H2319H8064H2319H776H6213H5975H6440H5002H3068H2233H8034H5975 23And it shall be that from one New Moon to another New Moon and from one Sabbath to another Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me, says the Lord.H1767H2320H2320H1767H7676H7676H1320H935H7812H6440H559H3068 24And they shall go forth and gaze upon the dead bodies of the [rebellious] men who have stepped over against Me; for their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all mankind.H3318H7200H6297H582H6586H8438H4191H784H3518H1860H1320
