Judgment Must Come

15Then the LORD said to me, "Even though Moses and Samuel were to stand before Me, My heart would not be with this people; send them away from My presence and let them go!H559H3068H4872H8050H5975H6440H5315H5971H7971H6440H3318 2"And it shall be that when they say to you, 'Where should we go?' then you are to tell them, 'Thus says the LORD: "Those [destined] for death, to death; And those [destined] for the sword, to the sword; And those [destined] for famine, to famine; And those [destined] for captivity, to captivity. "'H559H3318H559H559H3068H4194H4194H2719H2719H7458H7458H7628H7628 3"And I shall appoint over them four kinds [of doom,]" declares the LORD :"the sword to slay, the dogs to drag off, and the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.H6485H702H4940H5002H3068H2719H2026H3611H5498H5775H8064H929H776H398H7843 4"And I shall make them an object of horror among all the kingdoms of the earth because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, the king of Judah, for what he did in Jerusalem.H5414H2189H2113H4467H776H1558H4519H1121H3169H4428H3063H6213H3389 5"Indeed, who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, Or who will mourn for you, Or who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?H2550H3389H5110H5493H7592H7965 6"You who have forsaken Me," declares the LORD, "You keep going backward. So I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am tired of relenting!H5203H5002H3068H3212H268H5186H3027H7843H3811H5162 7"And I will winnow them with a winnowing fork At the gates of the land; I will bereave [them] of children, I will destroy My people; They did not repent of their ways.H2219H4214H8179H776H7921H6H5971H7725H1870 8"Their widows will be more numerous before Me Than the sand of the seas; I will bring against them, against the mother of a young man, A destroyer at noonday; I will suddenly bring down on her Anguish and dismay.H490H6105H2344H3220H935H517H970H7703H6672H5307H6597H928H5892 9"She who bore seven [sons] pines away; Her breathing is labored. Her sun has set while it was yet day; She has been shamed and humiliated. I have neither lent, nor have men lent money to me, [Yet] everyone curses me.H188H517H3205H376H7379H376H4066H776H5383H5383H7043 11The LORD said, "Surely I will set you free for [purposes of] good; Surely I will cause the enemy to make supplication to you In a time of disaster and a time of distress.H3068H559H3808H518H2896H8281H8293H518H341H6293H6256H7451H6256H6869 12"Can anyone smash iron, Iron from the north, or bronze?H1270H7489H6828H1270H5178 13"Your wealth and your treasures I will give for booty without cost, Even for all your sins And within all your borders.H2428H214H5414H957H4242H2403H1366 14"Then I will cause your enemies to bring [it] Into a land you do not know; For a fire has been kindled in My anger, It will burn upon you."H5674H341H776H3045H784H6919H639H3344

Jeremiah’s Prayer and God’s Answer

15Thou who knowest, O LORD, Remember me, take notice of me, And take vengeance for me on my persecutors. Do [not,] in view of Thy patience, take me away; Know that for Thy sake I endure reproach.H3068H3045H2142H6485H5358H7291H3947H639H750H3045H5375H2781 16Thy words were found and I ate them, And Thy words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Thy name, O LORD God of hosts.H1697H4672H398H1697H8342H8057H3824H7121H8034H3068H430H6635 17I did not sit in the circle of merrymakers, Nor did I exult. Because of Thy hand [upon me] I sat alone, For Thou didst fill me with indignation.H3427H5475H7832H5937H3427H910H6440H3027H4390H2195 18Why has my pain been perpetual And my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Wilt Thou indeed be to me like a deceptive [stream] With water that is unreliable?H3511H5331H4347H605H3985H7495H391H4325H539 19Therefore, thus says the LORD, "If you return, then I will restore you— Before Me you will stand; And if you extract the precious from the worthless, You will become My spokesman. They for their part may turn to you, But as for you, you must not turn to them.H559H3068H7725H7725H5975H6440H3318H3368H2151H6310H7725H7725 20"Then I will make you to this people A fortified wall of bronze; And though they fight against you, They will not prevail over you; For I am with you to save you And deliver you," declares the LORD.H5414H5971H1219H5178H2346H3898H3201H3467H5337H5002H3068 21"So I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, And I will redeem you from the grasp of the violent."H5337H3027H7451H6299H3709H6184
