The Deceitful Heart

17The sin of Judah is written down with an iron stylus; With a diamond point it is engraved upon the tablet of their heart, And on the horns of their altars,H2403H3063H3789H5842H1270H6856H8068H2790H3871H3820H7161H4196 2As they remember their children, So they [remember] their altars and their Asherim By green trees on the high hills.H1121H2142H4196H842H7488H6086H1364H1389 3O mountain of Mine in the countryside, I will give over your wealth and all your treasures for booty, Your high places for sin throughout your borders.H2042H7704H5414H2428H214H957H1116H2403H1366 4And you will, even of yourself, let go of your inheritance That I gave you; And I will make you serve your enemies In the land which you do not know; For you have kindled a fire in My anger Which will burn forever.H8058H5159H5414H5647H341H776H3045H6919H784H639H3344H5704H5769 5Thus says the LORD, "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD.H559H3068H779H1397H982H120H7760H1320H2220H3820H5493H3068 6"For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant.H6199H6160H7200H2896H935H7931H2788H4057H4420H776H3427 7"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD.H1288H1397H982H3068H4009H3068 8"For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.H6086H8362H4325H7971H8328H3105H7200H2527H935H5929H7488H1672H8141H1226H4185H6213H6529 9"The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?H3820H6121H605H3045 10"I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.H3068H2713H3820H974H3629H5414H376H1870H6529H4611 11"As a partridge that hatches eggs which it has not laid, [So] is he who makes a fortune, but unjustly; In the midst of his days it will forsake him, And in the end he will be a fool."H7124H1716H3205H6213H6239H4941H5800H2677H3117H319H5036 12A glorious throne on high from the beginning Is the place of our sanctuary.H3519H4791H3678H7223H4725H4720 13O LORD, the hope of Israel, All who forsake Thee will be put to shame. Those who turn away on earth will be written down, Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the LORD.H3068H4723H3478H5800H954H3249H5493H3789H776H5800H3068H4726H2416H4325 14Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; Save me and I will be saved, For Thou art my praise.H7495H3068H7495H3467H3467H8416 15Look, they keep saying to me, "Where is the word of the LORD? Let it come now!"H559H1697H3068H935 16But as for me, I have not hurried away from [being] a shepherd after Thee, Nor have I longed for the woeful day; Thou Thyself knowest the utterance of my lips Was in Thy presence.H213H7462H310H183H605H3117H3045H4161H8193H5227H6440 17Do not be a terror to me; Thou art my refuge in the day of disaster.H4288H4268H3117H7451 18Let those who persecute me be put to shame, but as for me, let me not be put to shame; Let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed. Bring on them a day of disaster, And crush them with twofold destruction!H954H7291H954H2865H2865H935H3117H7451H7665H4932H7670

The Sabbath Must Be Kept

19Thus the LORD said to me, "Go and stand in the public gate, through which the kings of Judah come in and go out, as well as in all the gates of Jerusalem;H559H3068H1980H5975H8179H1121H5971H4428H3063H935H3318H8179H3389 20and say to them, 'Listen to the word of the LORD, kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all inhabitants of Jerusalem, who come in through these gates:H559H8085H1697H3068H4428H3063H3063H3427H3389H935H8179 21'Thus says the LORD, "Take heed for yourselves, and do not carry any load on the sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem.H559H3068H8104H5315H5375H4853H7676H3117H935H8179H3389 22"And you shall not bring a load out of your houses on the sabbath day nor do any work, but keep the sabbath day holy, as I commanded your forefathers.H3318H4853H1004H7676H3117H6213H4399H6942H7676H3117H6680H1 23"Yet they did not listen or incline their ears, but stiffened their necks in order not to listen or take correction.H8085H5186H241H6203H7185H8085H3947H4148 24"But it will come about, if you listen attentively to Me," declares the LORD, "to bring no load in through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but to keep the sabbath day holy by doing no work on it,H8085H8085H5002H3068H935H4853H8179H5892H7676H3117H6942H7676H3117H6213H1115H4399 25then there will come in through the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city will be inhabited forever.H935H8179H5892H4428H8269H3427H3678H1732H7392H7393H5483H8269H376H3063H3427H3389H5892H3427H5769 26"They will come in from the cities of Judah and from the environs of Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country, and from the Negev, bringing burnt offerings, sacrifices, grain offerings and incense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving to the house of the LORD.H935H5892H3063H5439H3389H776H1144H8219H2022H5045H935H5930H2077H4503H3828H935H8426H1004H3068 27"But if you do not listen to Me to keep the sabbath day holy by not carrying a load and coming in through the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day, then I shall kindle a fire in its gates, and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem and not be quenched."
