The Persistent Sin of Judah

17The sin of Judah is written with an iron stylus. With a diamond point it is engraved on the tablet of their hearts and on the horns of their altars,H2403H3063H3789H5842H1270H6856H8068H2790H3871H3820H7161H4196
2while their children remember their altars and their Asherah poles, by the green trees on the high hills—H1121H2142H4196H842H7488H6086H1364H1389
3My mountains in the countryside. Your wealth and all your treasures I will give up as plunder because of the sin of your high places within all your borders.H2042H7704H5414H2428H214H957H1116H2403H1366
4You will, of yourself, relinquish your inheritance that I gave you. I will make you serve your enemies in a land you do not know, for you have set My anger on fire; it will burn forever.H8058H5159H5414H5647H341H776H3045H6919H784H639H3344H5704H5769

Curse and Blessing

5This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind, who makes [human] flesh his strength and turns his heart from the LORD.H559H3068H779H1397H982H120H7760H1320H2220H3820H5493H3068
6He will be like a juniper in the Arabah; he cannot see when good comes but dwells in the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land where no one lives.H6199H6160H7200H2896H935H7931H2788H4057H4420H776H3427
7Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence indeed is the LORD.H1288H1397H982H3068H4009H3068
8He will be like a tree planted by water: it sends its roots out toward a stream, it doesn't fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.H6086H8362H4325H7971H8328H3105H7200H2527H935H5929H7488H1672H8141H1226H4185H6213H6529

The Deceitful Heart

9The heart is more deceitful than anything else and desperately sick— who can understand it?H3820H6121H605H3045
10I, the LORD, examine the mind, I test the heart to give to each according to his way, according to what his actions deserve.H3068H2713H3820H974H3629H5414H376H1870H6529H4611
11He who makes a fortune unjustly is [like] a partridge that hatches eggs it didn't lay. In the middle of his days [his riches] will abandon him, so in the end he will be a fool.H7124H1716H3205H6213H6239H4941H5800H2677H3117H319H5036
12A throne of glory on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary,H3519H4791H3678H7223H4725H4720
13LORD, the hope of Israel, all who abandon You will be put to shame. All who turn away from Me will be written in the dirt, for they have abandoned the fountain of living water, the LORD.H3068H4723H3478H5800H954H3249H5493H3789H776H5800H3068H4726H2416H4325

Jeremiah’s Plea

14Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for You are my praise.H7495H3068H7495H3467H3467H8416
15Hear how they keep challenging me, "Where is the word of the LORD? Let it come!"H559H1697H3068H935
16But I have not run away from being Your shepherd, and I have not longed for the fatal day. You know my words were spoken in Your presence.H213H7462H310H183H605H3117H3045H4161H8193H5227H6440
17Don't become a terror to me. You are my refuge in the day of disaster.H4288H4268H3117H7451
18Let my persecutors be put to shame, but don't let me be put to shame. Let them be terrified, but don't let me be terrified. Bring on them the day of disaster; shatter them with total destruction.H954H7291H954H2865H2865H935H3117H7451H7665H4932H7670

Observing the Sabbath

19This is what the LORD said to me, "Go and stand in the People's Gate, through which the kings of Judah enter and leave, and in all the gates of Jerusalem.H559H3068H1980H5975H8179H1121H5971H4428H3063H935H3318H8179H3389
20Announce to them: Hear the word of the LORD, kings of Judah, all Judah, and all the residents of Jerusalem who enter through these gates.H559H8085H1697H3068H4428H3063H3063H3427H3389H935H8179
21This is what the LORD says: Watch yourselves; do not pick up a load and bring it in through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.H559H3068H8104H5315H5375H4853H7676H3117H935H8179H3389
22You must not carry a load out of your houses on the Sabbath day or do any work, but you must consecrate the Sabbath day, just as I commanded your ancestors.H3318H4853H1004H7676H3117H6213H4399H6942H7676H3117H6680H1
23They wouldn't listen or pay attention but became obstinate, not listening or accepting discipline.H8085H5186H241H6203H7185H8085H3947H4148
24"However, if you listen to Me, says the LORD, and do not bring loads through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day and consecrate the Sabbath day and do no work on it,H8085H8085H5002H3068H935H4853H8179H5892H7676H3117H6942H7676H3117H6213H1115H4399
25kings and princes will enter through the gates of this city. They will sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses with their officials, the men of Judah, and the residents of Jerusalem. This city will be inhabited forever.H935H8179H5892H4428H8269H3427H3678H1732H7392H7393H5483H8269H376H3063H3427H3389H5892H3427H5769
26Then [people] will come from the cities of Judah and from the area around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin and from the Judean foothills, from the hill country and from the Negev bringing burnt offerings and sacrifice, grain offerings and frankincense, and thank offerings to the house of the LORD.H935H5892H3063H5439H3389H776H1144H8219H2022H5045H935H5930H2077H4503H3828H935H8426H1004H3068
27If you do not listen to Me to consecrate the Sabbath day by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, I will set fire to its gates, and it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem and not be extinguished."H8085H6942H7676H3117H5375H4853H935H8179H3389H7676H3117H3341H784H8179H398H759H3389H3518
