At the Potter’s House

18This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:H1697H3414H3068H559 2"Go down to the potter's house, and there I will give you my message."H6965H3381H3335H1004H8085H1697 3So I went down to the potter's house, and I saw him working at the wheel.H3381H3335H1004H2009H6213H4399H70 4But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.H3627H6213H2563H7843H3027H3335H6213H7725H312H3627H5869H3474H3335H6213 5Then the word of the LORD came to me:H1697H3068H559 6"O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.H1004H3478H3201H6213H3335H5002H3068H2563H3335H3027H3027H1004H3478 7If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed,H7281H1696H1471H4467H5428H5422H6 8and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned.H1471H1696H7725H7451H5162H7451H2803H6213 9And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted,H7281H1696H1471H4467H1129H5193 10and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.H6213H7451H5869H8085H6963H5162H2896H559H3190 11"Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, 'This is what the LORD says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.'H559H376H3063H3427H3389H559H559H3068H3335H7451H2803H4284H7725H376H7451H1870H1870H4611H3190 12But they will reply, 'It's no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.'"H559H2976H3212H310H4284H376H6213H8307H7451H3820 13Therefore this is what the LORD says: "Inquire among the nations: Who has ever heard anything like this? A most horrible thing has been done by Virgin Israel.H559H3068H7592H1471H8085H1330H3478H6213H3966H8186 14Does the snow of Lebanon ever vanish from its rocky slopes? Do its cool waters from distant sources ever cease to flow?H5800H7950H3844H6697H7704H7119H5140H4325H2114H5428 15Yet my people have forgotten me; they burn incense to worthless idols, which made them stumble in their ways and in the ancient paths. They made them walk in bypaths and on roads not built up.H5971H7911H6999H7723H3782H1870H5769H7635H7635H3212H5410H1870H5549 16Their land will be laid waste, an object of lasting scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and will shake their heads.H7760H776H8047H5769H8292H8292H5674H8074H5110H7218 17Like a wind from the east, I will scatter them before their enemies; I will show them my back and not my face in the day of their disaster."H6327H6921H7307H6440H341H7200H6203H6440H3117H343 18They said, "Come, let's make plans against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest will not be lost, nor will counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophets. So come, let's attack him with our tongues and pay no attention to anything he says."H559H3212H2803H4284H3414H8451H6H3548H6098H2450H1697H5030H3212H5221H3956H7181H1697 19Listen to me, O LORD; hear what my accusers are saying!H7181H3068H8085H6963H3401 20Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember that I stood before you and spoke in their behalf to turn your wrath away from them.H7451H7999H2896H3738H7745H5315H2142H5975H6440H1696H2896H7725H2534 21So give their children over to famine; hand them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives be made childless and widows; let their men be put to death, their young men slain by the sword in battle.H5414H1121H7458H5064H3027H2719H802H7909H490H582H2026H4194H970H5221H2719H4421 22Let a cry be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring invaders against them, for they have dug a pit to capture me and have hidden snares for my feet.H2201H8085H1004H935H1416H6597H3738H7745H7882H3920H2934H6341H7272 23But you know, O LORD, all their plots to kill me. Do not forgive their crimes or blot out their sins from your sight. Let them be overthrown before you; deal with them in the time of your anger.H3068H3045H6098H4194H3722H5771H4229H2403H6440H3782H6440H6213H6256H639
