Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane

18When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.G2424G2036G5023G1831G4862G846G3101G4008G5493G2748G3699G2258G2779G1519G3739G846G1525G2532G846G3101 2And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples.G1161G2455G2532G3588G3860G846G1492G5117G3754G2424G4178G4863G1563G3326G846G3101 3Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.G2455G3767G2983G4686G2532G5257G1537G749G2532G5330G2064G1563G3326G5322G2532G2985G2532G3696 4Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, "Whom are you seeking?"G2424G3767G1492G3956G2064G1909G846G1831G2036G846G5101G2212 5They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am He." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.G611G846G2424G3480G2424G3004G846G1473G1510G1161G2455G2532G3588G3860G846G2476G3326G846 6Now when He said to them, "I am He," they drew back and fell to the ground.G5613G3767G2036G846G3754G1473G1510G565G1519G3694G2532G4098G5476 7Then He asked them again, "Whom are you seeking?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth."G3767G1905G846G3825G5101G2212G1161G2036G2424G3480 8Jesus answered, "I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,"G2424G611G2036G5213G3754G1473G1510G1487G3767G2212G1691G863G5128G5217 9that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, "Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none."G2443G3056G4137G3739G2036G3754G1537G846G3739G1325G3427G3756G622G3762 10Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.G3767G4613G4074G2192G3162G1670G846G2532G3817G749G1401G2532G609G846G1188G5621G1161G1401G3686G2258G3124 11So Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"G3767G2036G2424G4074G906G4675G3162G1519G2336G4221G3739G3962G1325G3427G4095G3378G4095G846

Before the High Priest

12Then the detachment of troops and the captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him.G3767G4686G2532G5506G2532G5257G2453G4815G2424G2532G1210G846 13And they led Him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas who was high priest that year.G2532G520G846G520G4314G452G4412G1063G2258G3995G2533G3739G2258G749G1565G1763 14Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.G1161G2533G2258G3588G4823G2453G3754G4851G1520G444G622G5228G2992

Peter Denies Jesus

15And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.G1161G4613G4074G190G2424G2532G243G3101G1161G1565G3101G2258G1110G749G2532G4897G2424G1519G833G749 16But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in.G1161G4074G2476G4314G2374G1854G3767G1831G243G3101G3739G2258G1110G749G2532G2036G2377G2532G1521G4074 17Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also one of this Man's disciples, are you?" He said, "I am not."G3767G3004G3814G2377G4074G1488G3361G4771G2532G1537G5127G444G3101G1565G3004G1510G3756 18Now the servants and officers who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold, and they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them and warmed himself.G1161G1401G2532G5257G2476G4160G439G3754G2258G5592G2532G2328G1161G4074G2258G2476G3326G846G2532G2328

Jesus Questioned by the High Priest

19The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.G749G3767G2065G2424G4012G846G3101G2532G4012G846G1322 20Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.G2424G611G846G1473G2980G3954G2889G1473G3842G1321G1722G4864G2532G1722G2411G3699G2453G3842G4905G2532G1722G2927G2980G3762 21"Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said."G5101G1905G3165G1905G191G5101G2980G846G2396G3778G1492G3739G1473G2036 22And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Do You answer the high priest like that?"G1161G846G2036G5023G2036G1520G5257G3936G1325G4475G2424G1325G4475G2036G611G749G3779 23Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?"G2424G611G846G1487G2980G2560G3140G4012G2556G1161G1487G2573G5101G1194G3165 24Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.G452G649G846G1210G4314G2533G749

Peter Denies Twice More

25Now Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also one of His disciples, are you?" He denied it and said, "I am not!"G1161G4613G4074G2258G2476G2532G2328G2036G3767G846G1488G3361G4771G2532G1537G846G3101G1565G720G2532G2036G1510G3756 26One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with Him?"G1520G1537G1401G749G5607G4773G3739G5621G4074G609G3004G1492G3756G1473G1492G4571G1722G2779G3326G846 27Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.G4074G3767G720G3825G2532G2112G220G5455

In Pilate’s Court

28Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.G3767G71G2424G575G2533G1519G4232G1161G2258G4405G2532G846G1525G3756G1519G4232G3363G3392G235G2443G5315G3957 29Pilate then went out to them and said, "What accusation do you bring against this Man?"G4091G3767G1831G4314G846G2532G2036G5101G2724G5342G2596G5127G444 30They answered and said to him, "If He were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you."G611G2532G2036G846G1508G3778G2258G1508G2555G302G3756G3860G846G3860G4671 31Then Pilate said to them, "You take Him and judge Him according to your law." Therefore the Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"G3767G2036G4091G846G2983G5210G846G2532G2919G846G2596G5216G3551G2453G3767G2036G846G1832G3756G1832G2254G615G3762G615 32that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what death He would die.G2443G3056G2424G4137G3739G2036G4591G4169G2288G3195G599 33Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?"G3767G4091G1525G1519G4232G3825G2532G5455G2424G2532G2036G846G1488G4771G935G2453 34Jesus answered him, "Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?"G2424G611G846G3004G4771G5124G575G1438G2228G243G2036G4671G4012G1700 35Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?"G4091G611G3385G1510G1473G2453G4674G1484G2532G749G3860G4571G1698G5101G4160 36Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."G2424G611G1699G932G2076G3756G1537G5127G2889G1487G1699G932G2258G1537G5127G2889G302G1699G5257G75G3363G3860G3363G3860G2453G1161G3568G2076G1699G932G3756G1782 37Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."G4091G3767G2036G846G1488G4771G935G3766G2424G611G4771G3004G3754G1473G1510G935G1519G5124G1080G1473G1080G2532G1519G5124G2064G1519G2889G2443G3140G225G3956G5607G1537G225G191G3450G5456 38Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no fault in Him at all.G4091G3004G846G5101G2076G225G2532G2036G5124G1831G3825G4314G2453G2532G3004G846G1473G2147G1722G846G3762G156

Taking the Place of Barabbas

39"But you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Do you therefore want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"G1161G5213G2076G4914G2443G630G5213G1520G1722G3957G1014G3767G630G5213G935G2453 40Then they all cried again, saying, "Not this Man, but Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a robber.G3767G2905G3956G3825G3004G3361G5126G235G912G1161G912G2258G3027
