John 21
New International Version (1984) Help
21Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way:G3326G5023G2424G5319G1438G3825G3101G1909G2281G5085G1161G3779G5319 2Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.G2258G3674G4613G4074G2532G2381G3004G1324G2532G3482G575G2580G1056G2532G3588G2199G2532G1417G243G1537G846G3101 3"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.G4613G4074G3004G846G5217G232G3004G846G2249G2532G2064G4862G4671G1831G2532G305G1519G4143G2117G2532G1722G1565G3571G4084G3762 4Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.G1161G4405G1096G2235G1096G2424G2476G1519G123G3305G3101G1492G3756G3754G2076G2424 5He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered.G3767G2424G3004G846G3813G2192G3387G4371G611G846G3756 6He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.G1161G2036G846G906G1350G1519G1188G3313G4143G2532G2147G906G3767G2532G3765G2480G3765G2480G1670G846G575G4128G2486 7Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.G3767G1565G3101G3739G2424G25G3004G4074G2076G2962G3767G4613G4074G191G3754G2076G2962G1241G1903G1063G2258G1131G2532G906G1438G1519G2281 8The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.G1161G243G3101G2064G4142G1063G2258G3756G3112G575G1093G235G5613G575G1250G4083G4951G1350G2486 9When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.G5613G3767G576G1519G1093G991G439G2532G3795G2749G1945G2532G740 10Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught."G2424G3004G846G5342G575G3795G3739G4084G3568G4084 11Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.G4613G4074G305G2532G1670G1350G1909G1093G3324G3173G2486G1540G4004G5140G2532G5118G5607G3756G1350G4977 12Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.G2424G3004G846G1205G709G1161G3762G3101G5111G1833G846G5101G1488G4771G1492G3754G2076G2962 13Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.G2424G3767G2064G2532G2983G740G2532G1325G846G2532G3795G3668 14This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.G5124G5319G2235G5154G2424G5319G846G3101G1453G1537G3498 15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."G3767G3753G709G2424G3004G4613G4074G4613G2495G25G3165G4119G5130G3004G846G3483G2962G4771G1492G3754G5368G4571G3004G846G1006G3450G721 16Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."G3004G846G3825G1208G4613G2495G25G3165G3004G846G3483G2962G4771G1492G3754G5368G4571G3004G846G4165G3450G4263 17The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.G3004G846G5154G4613G2495G5368G3165G4074G3076G3754G2036G846G5154G5368G3165G2532G2036G846G2962G4771G1492G3956G4771G1097G3754G5368G4571G2424G3004G846G1006G3450G4263 18I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."G281G281G3004G4671G3753G2258G3501G2224G4572G2532G4043G3699G2309G1161G3752G1095G1614G4675G5495G2532G243G2224G4571G2532G5342G3699G2309G3756 19Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"G1161G5124G2036G4591G4169G2288G1392G2316G2532G2036G5124G3004G846G190G3427 20Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?")G1161G4074G1994G991G3101G3739G2424G25G190G3739G2532G377G1909G846G4738G1722G1173G2532G2036G2962G5101G2076G3860G4571 21When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"G4074G1492G5126G3004G2424G2962G1161G5101G3778 22Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me."G2424G3004G846G1437G2309G846G3306G2193G2064G5101G4314G4571G190G4771G3427 23Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?"G3767G1831G3778G3056G1831G1519G80G3754G1565G3101G599G3756G599G2532G2424G2036G3756G846G3754G599G3756G599G235G1437G2309G846G3306G2193G2064G5101G4314G4571 24This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.G3778G2076G3101G3588G3140G4012G5130G2532G1125G5023G2532G1492G3754G846G3141G2076G227 25Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.G1161G2076G2532G4183G243G3745G2424G4160G3748G1437G1125G2596G1520G3633G3761G2889G846G3761G5562G975G1125G281
