The First Sign: Turning Water into Wine

On the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, andG2532G5154G2250G1096G1062G1722G2580G1056G2532G3384G2424G2258G1563
Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding as well.G1161G2532G2424G2564G2532G846G3101G1519G1062
When the wine ran out, Jesus' mother told Him, "They don't have any wine."G2532G5302G3631G3384G2424G3004G4314G846G2192G3756G3631
"What has this concern of yours to do with Me, woman?" Jesus asked. "My hour has not yet come."G2424G3004G846G1135G5101G1698G2532G4671G3450G5610G2240G3768G2240
"Do whatever He tells you," His mother told the servants.G846G3384G3004G1249G3748G302G3004G5213G4160
Now six stone water jars had been set there for Jewish purification. Each contained 20 or 30 gallons.G1161G2258G2749G1563G1803G5201G3035G2596G2512G2453G5562G1417G2228G5140G3355G303
"Fill the jars with water," Jesus told them. So they filled them to the brim.G2424G3004G846G1072G5201G5204G2532G1072G846G1072G2193G507
Then He said to them, "Now draw some out and take it to the chief servant." And they did.G2532G3004G846G501G3568G2532G5342G755G2532G5342
When the chief servant tasted the water (after it had become wine), he did not know where it came from— though the servants who had drawn the water knew. He called the groomG1161G5613G755G1089G5204G1096G3631G2532G1492G3756G4159G2076G1161G1249G3588G501G5204G1492G755G5455G3566
and told him, "Everybody sets out the fine wine first, then, after people have drunk freely, the inferior. But you have kept the fine wine until now."G2532G3004G846G3956G444G4412G5087G2570G3631G2532G3752G3184G5119G1640G4771G5083G2570G3631G2193G737
Jesus performed this first sign in Cana of Galilee. He displayed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.G5026G746G4592G4160G2424G1722G2580G1056G2532G5319G846G1391G2532G846G3101G4100G1519G846
After this, He went down to Capernaum, together with His mother, His brothers, and His disciples, and they stayed there only a few days.G3326G5124G2597G1519G2584G846G2532G846G3384G2532G846G80G2532G846G3101G2532G3306G1563G3756G4183G2250

Cleansing the Temple Complex

The Jewish Passover was near, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.G2532G2453G3957G2258G1451G2532G2424G305G1519G2414
In the temple complex He found people selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and [He also found] the money changers sitting there.G2532G2147G1722G2411G4453G1016G2532G4263G2532G4058G2532G2773G2521
After making a whip out of cords, He drove everyone out of the temple complex with their sheep and oxen. He also poured out the money changers' coins and overturned the tables.G2532G4160G5416G1537G4979G1544G3956G1537G2411G5037G4263G2532G1016G2532G1632G2855G2772G2532G390G5132
He told those who were selling doves, "Get these things out of here! Stop turning My Father's house into a marketplace!"G2532G2036G4453G4058G142G5023G1782G4160G3361G3450G3962G3624G3624G1712
And His disciples remembered that it is written: Zeal for Your house will consume Me.G1161G846G3101G3415G3754G2076G1125G2205G4675G3624G2719G3165G2719
So the Jews replied to Him, "What sign [of authority] will You show us for doing these things?"G3767G611G2453G2532G2036G846G5101G4592G1166G2254G3754G4160G5023
Jesus answered, "Destroy this sanctuary, and I will raise it up in three days."G2424G611G2532G2036G846G3089G5126G3485G2532G1722G5140G2250G1453G846G1453
Therefore the Jews said, "This sanctuary took 46 years to build, and will You raise it up in three days?"G3767G2036G2453G5062G2532G1803G2094G3618G3778G3485G3618G2532G1453G4771G1453G846G1453G1722G5140G2250
But He was speaking about the sanctuary of His body.G1161G1565G3004G4012G3485G846G4983
So when He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this. And they believed the Scripture and the statement Jesus had made.G3753G3767G1453G1537G3498G846G3101G3415G3754G3004G5124G846G2532G4100G1124G2532G3056G3739G2424G2036
While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many trusted in His name when they saw the signs He was doing.G1161G5613G2258G1722G2414G1722G3957G1722G1859G4183G4100G1519G846G3686G2334G846G4592G3739G4160
Jesus, however, would not entrust Himself to them, since He knew them allG1161G2424G846G4100G3756G4100G1438G846G1223G846G1097G3956
and because He did not need anyone to testify about man; for He Himself knew what was in man.G2532G3754G5532G2192G3756G2443G5100G3140G4012G444G1063G846G1097G5101G2258G1722G444
