Samson Burns Philistine Crops

15But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, it came about that Samson visited his wife with a young goat, and said, "I will go in to my wife in [her] room." But her father did not let him enter.H3117H3117H2406H7105H8123H6485H802H1423H5795H559H935H802H2315H1H5414H935 2And her father said, "I really thought that you hated her intensely; so I gave her to your companion. Is not her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please let her be yours instead."H1H559H559H559H8130H8130H5414H4828H6996H269H2896 3Samson then said to them, "This time I shall be blameless in regard to the Philistines when I do them harm."H8123H559H6471H5352H6430H6213H7451 4And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned [the foxes] tail to tail, and put one torch in the middle between two tails.H8123H3212H3920H7969H3967H7776H3947H3940H6437H2180H2180H7760H259H3940H8432H8147H2180 5When he had set fire to the torches, he released the foxes into the standing grain of the Philistines, thus burning up both the shocks and the standing grain, along with the vineyards [and] groves.H1197H3940H784H7971H7054H6430H1197H1430H7054H3754H2132 6Then the Philistines said, "Who did this?" And they said, "Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he took his wife and gave her to his companion." So the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire.H6430H559H6213H559H8123H2860H8554H3947H802H5414H4828H6430H5927H8313H1H784 7And Samson said to them, "Since you act like this, I will surely take revenge on you, but after that I will quit."H8123H559H518H6213H2063H5358H310H2308 8And he struck them ruthlessly with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cleft of the rock of Etam.H5221H7785H5921H3409H1419H4347H3381H3427H5585H5553H5862 9Then the Philistines went up and camped in Judah, and spread out in Lehi.H6430H5927H2583H3063H5203H3896 10And the men of Judah said, "Why have you come up against us?" And they said, "We have come up to bind Samson in order to do to him as he did to us."H376H3063H559H5927H559H631H8123H5927H6213H6213 11Then 30000 men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam and said to Samson, "Do you not know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?" And he said to them, " As they did to me, so I have done to them. "H7969H505H376H3063H3381H5585H5553H5862H559H8123H3045H6430H4910H6213H559H6213H6213 12And they said to him, "We have come down to bind you so that we may give you into the hands of the Philistines." And Samson said to them, "Swear to me that you will not kill me."H559H3381H631H5414H3027H6430H8123H559H7650H6293 13So they said to him, "No, but we will bind you fast and give you into their hands; yet surely we will not kill you." Then they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.H559H559H631H631H5414H3027H4191H4191H631H8147H2319H5688H5927H5553 14When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him mightily so that the ropes that were on his arms were as flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds dropped from his hands.H935H3896H6430H7321H7125H7307H3068H6743H5688H2220H6593H1197H784H612H4549H3027 15And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, so he reached out and took it and killed a thousand men with it.H4672H2961H3895H2543H7971H3027H3947H5221H505H376 16Then Samson said, "With the jawbone of a donkey, Heaps upon heaps, With the jawbone of a donkey I have killed a thousand men."H8123H559H3895H2543H2565H2565H3895H2543H5221H505H376 17And it came about when he had finished speaking, that he threw the jawbone from his hand; and he named that place Ramath-lehi.H3615H1696H7993H3895H3027H7121H4725H7437 18Then he became very thirsty, and he called to the LORD and said, " Thou hast given this great deliverance by the hand of Thy servant, and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised? "H3966H6770H7121H3068H559H5414H1419H8668H3027H5650H4191H6772H5307H3027H6189 19But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi so that water came out of it. When he drank, his strength returned and he revived. Therefore, he named it En-hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day.H430H1234H4388H3895H3318H4325H8354H7307H7725H2421H7121H8034H5875H3896H3117 20So he judged Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines.H8199H3478H3117H6430H6242H8141
