The Sorrows of Zion

1How lonely sits the city That was full of people! She has become like a widow Who was [once] great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces Has become a forced laborer!H5892H3427H910H7227H5971H490H7227H1471H8282H4082H4522 2She weeps bitterly in the night, And her tears are on her cheeks; She has none to comfort her Among all her lovers. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; They have become her enemies.H1058H1058H3915H1832H3895H157H5162H7453H898H341 3Judah has gone into exile under affliction, And under harsh servitude; She dwells among the nations, [But] she has found no rest; All her pursuers have overtaken her In the midst of distress.H3063H1540H6040H7230H5656H3427H1471H4672H4494H7291H5381H4712 4The roads of Zion are in mourning Because no one comes to the appointed feasts. All her gates are desolate; Her priests are groaning, Her virgins are afflicted, And she herself is bitter.H1870H6726H57H935H4150H8179H8074H3548H584H1330H3013H4843 5Her adversaries have become her masters, Her enemies prosper; For the LORD has caused her grief Because of the multitude of her transgressions; Her little ones have gone away As captives before the adversary.H6862H7218H341H7951H3068H3013H7230H6588H5768H1980H7628H6440H6862 6And all her majesty Has departed from the daughter of Zion; Her princes have become like bucks That have found no pasture; And they have fled without strength Before the pursuer.H1323H6726H1926H3318H8269H354H4672H4829H3212H3581H6440H7291 7In the days of her affliction and homelessness Jerusalem remembers all her precious things That were from the days of old When her people fell into the hand of the adversary, And no one helped her. The adversaries saw her, They mocked at her ruin.H3389H2142H3117H6040H4788H4262H3117H6924H5971H5307H3027H6862H5826H6862H7200H7832H4868 8Jerusalem sinned greatly, Therefore she has become an unclean thing. All who honored her despise her Because they have seen her nakedness; Even she herself groans and turns away.H3389H2399H2398H5206H3513H2107H7200H6172H584H7725H268 9Her uncleanness was in her skirts; She did not consider her future; Therefore she has fallen astonishingly; She has no comforter. "See, O LORD, my affliction, For the enemy has magnified himself!"H2932H7757H2142H319H3381H6382H5162H3068H7200H6040H341H1431 10The adversary has stretched out his hand Over all her precious things, For she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary, The ones whom Thou didst command That they should not enter into Thy congregation.H6862H6566H3027H4261H7200H1471H935H4720H6680H935H6951 11All her people groan seeking bread; They have given their precious things for food To restore their lives themselves. "See, O LORD, and look, For I am despised."H5971H584H1245H3899H5414H4261H4262H400H7725H5315H7200H3068H5027H2151 12"Is it nothing to all you who pass this way? Look and see if there is any pain like my pain Which was severely dealt out to me, Which the LORD inflicted on the day of His fierce anger.H5674H1870H5027H7200H3426H4341H4341H5953H3068H3013H3117H2740H639 13"From on high He sent fire into my bones, And it prevailed [over them;] He has spread a net for my feet; He has turned me back; He has made me desolate, Faint all day long.H4791H7971H784H6106H7287H6566H7568H7272H7725H268H5414H8074H1739H3117 14"The yoke of my transgressions is bound; By His hand they are knit together; They have come upon my neck; He has made my strength fail; The Lord has given me into the hands Of [those against whom] I am not able to stand.H5923H6588H8244H3027H8276H5927H6677H3581H3782H136H5414H3027H3201H6965 15"The Lord has rejected all my strong men In my midst; He has called an appointed time against me To crush my young men; The Lord has trodden [as in] a wine press The virgin daughter of Judah.H136H5541H47H7130H7121H4150H7665H970H136H1869H1330H1323H3063H1660 16"For these things I weep; My eyes run down with water; Because far from me is a comforter, One who restores my soul; My children are desolate Because the enemy has prevailed."H1058H5869H5869H3381H4325H5162H7725H5315H7368H1121H8074H341H1396 17Zion stretches out her hands; There is no one to comfort her; The LORD has commanded concerning Jacob That the ones round about him should be his adversaries; Jerusalem has become an unclean thing among them.H6726H6566H3027H5162H3068H6680H3290H6862H5439H3389H5079 18"The LORD is righteous; For I have rebelled against His command; Hear now, all peoples, And behold my pain; My virgins and my young men Have gone into captivity.H3068H6662H4784H6310H8085H5971H7200H4341H1330H970H1980H7628 19"I called to my lovers, [but] they deceived me; My priests and my elders perished in the city, While they sought food to restore their strength themselves.H7121H157H7411H3548H2205H1478H5892H1245H400H7725H5315 20"See, O LORD, for I am in distress; My spirit is greatly troubled; My heart is overturned within me, For I have been very rebellious. In the street the sword slays; In the house it is like death.H7200H3068H6887H4578H2560H3820H2015H7130H4784H4784H2351H2719H7921H1004H4194 21"They have heard that I groan; There is no one to comfort me; All my enemies have heard of my calamity; They are glad that Thou hast done [it.] Oh, that Thou wouldst bring the day which Thou hast proclaimed, That they may become like me.H8085H584H5162H341H8085H7451H7797H6213H935H3117H7121H3644 22"Let all their wickedness come before Thee; And deal with them as Thou hast dealt with me For all my transgressions; For my groans are many, and my heart is faint."H7451H935H6440H5953H5953H6588H585H7227H3820H1742
