The Mission of the Seventy

10After this, the Lord appointed seventy other disciples and was about to send them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place that he intended to go.G1161G3326G5023G2962G322G2087G1440G2532G2532G649G846G303G1417G4253G846G4383G1519G3956G4172G2532G5117G3757G3739G846G3195G2064 2So he instructed them, "The harvest is vast, but the workers are few. So ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers out into his harvest.G3767G3004G4314G846G2326G3303G4183G1161G2040G3641G1189G3767G2962G2326G3704G1544G2040G1519G846G2326 3Get going! See, I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.G5217G2400G1473G649G5209G649G5613G704G1722G3319G3074 4Don't carry a wallet, a traveling bag, or sandals, and don't greet anyone on the way.G941G3361G905G3361G4082G3366G5266G2532G782G3367G2596G3598 5"Whatever house you go into, first say, 'May there be peace in this house.'G1161G1519G3739G302G3614G1525G4412G3004G1515G5129G3624 6If a peaceful person lives there, your greeting of peace will remain with him. Don't move from house to house.6G1161G1722G846G3614G3306G2068G2532G4095G3844G846G3844G1063G2040G2076G514G846G3408G3327G3361G1537G3614G1519G3614 8"Whenever you go into a town and the people welcome you, eat whatever they serve you,G2532G1519G1161G3739G302G4172G1525G2532G1209G5209G2068G3908G5213 9heal the sick that are there, and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you!'G2532G2323G772G1722G846G2532G3004G846G932G2316G1448G1909G5209 10But whenever you go into a town and people don't welcome you, go out into its streets and say,G1161G1519G3739G302G4172G1525G2532G1209G5209G3361G1831G1519G4113G846G2036 11'We are wiping off your town's dust that clings to our feet in protest against you! Jesus Denounces Unrepentant Cities

13"How terrible it will be for you, Chorazin! How terrible it will be for you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that happened in you had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.G3759G4671G5523G3759G4671G966G3754G1487G1411G1096G1722G5184G2532G4605G3588G1096G1722G5213G3340G3819G3340G2521G302G1722G4526G2532G4700 14It will be easier for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you!13G4133G2071G414G5184G2532G4605G1722G2920G2228G5213 15And you, Capernaum! You won't be lifted up to heaven, will you? You'll go down to Hell!G2532G4771G2584G3588G5312G2193G3772G2601G2193G86 16The person who listens to you listens to me, and the person who rejects you rejects me. The person who rejects me rejects the one who sent me."G191G5216G191G1700G2532G114G5209G114G1691G1161G114G1691G114G649G3165

The Return of the Seventy

17The seventy disciples came back and joyously reported, "Lord, even the demons are submitting to us in your name!"G1161G1440G5290G3326G5479G3004G2962G2532G1140G5293G2254G1722G4675G3686 18He said to them, "I watched Satan falling from heaven like lightning.G1161G2036G846G2334G4567G5613G796G4098G1537G3772 19Look! I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to destroy all the enemy's power, and nothing will ever hurt you.G2400G1325G5213G1849G3961G1883G3789G2532G4651G2532G1909G3956G1411G2190G2532G3762G91G3364G91G91G5209 20However, stop rejoicing because the spirits are submitting to you. Rather, rejoice because your names are written in heaven."G4133G1722G5129G5463G3361G3754G4151G5293G5213G1161G3123G5463G3754G5216G3686G1125G1722G3772

Jesus Praises the Father

21At that moment, the Holy Spirit made Jesus extremely joyful, so Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from wise and intelligent people and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this is what was pleasing to you.G1722G846G5610G2424G21G4151G2532G2036G1843G4671G3962G2962G3772G2532G1093G3754G613G5023G575G4680G2532G4908G2532G601G846G3516G3483G3962G3754G3779G1096G2107G1715G4675G1715 22"All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and the person to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."G3956G3860G3427G5259G3450G3962G2532G3762G1097G5101G5207G2076G1508G3962G2532G5101G3962G2076G1508G5207G2532G3739G1437G5207G1014G601 23Then turning to his disciples in private, he said to them, "How blessed are the eyes that see what you see!G2532G4762G4314G3101G2036G2398G2596G3107G3788G3588G991G3739G991 24Because I tell you, many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn't see them, and to hear the things you hear but didn't hear them."G1063G3004G5213G3754G4183G4396G2532G935G2309G1492G3739G5210G991G2532G1492G3756G1492G2532G191G3739G191G2532G191G3756G191

The Good Samaritan

25Just then an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. He asked, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"G2532G2400G5100G3544G450G2532G1598G846G3004G1320G5101G4160G2816G166G2222 26Jesus answered him, "What is written in the law? What do you read there?"G1161G2036G4314G846G5101G1125G1722G3551G4459G314 27He answered, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. And you must love your neighbor as yourself."G1161G611G2036G25G2962G4675G2316G1537G3650G4675G2588G2532G1537G3650G4675G5590G2532G1537G3650G4675G2479G2532G1537G3650G4675G1271G2532G4675G4139G5613G4572 28Jesus told him, "You have answered correctly. 'Do this, and you will live.'"G1161G2036G846G611G3723G5124G4160G2532G2198 29But the man wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"G1161G2309G1344G1438G2036G4314G2424G2532G5101G2076G3450G4139 30After careful consideration, Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he fell into the hands of bandits. They stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead.G1161G2424G5274G2036G5100G444G2597G575G2419G1519G2410G2532G4045G3027G3739G2532G1562G846G1562G2532G4127G2007G565G863G2253G5177 31By chance, a priest was traveling along that road. When he saw the man, he went by on the other side.G1161G2596G4795G2597G5100G2409G1722G1565G3598G2532G1492G846G492 32Similarly, a Levite came to that place. When he saw the man, he also went by on the other side.G1161G3668G2532G3019G1096G2596G5117G2064G2532G1492G492 33But as he was traveling along, a Samaritan came across the man. When the Samaritan saw him, he was moved with compassion.G1161G5100G4541G3593G2064G2596G846G2532G1492G846G4697 34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.G2532G4334G2611G846G5134G2022G1637G2532G3631G1161G1913G846G1909G2398G2934G71G846G1519G3829G2532G1959G846 35The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take good care of him. If you spend more than that, I'll repay you when I come back.'31G2532G1909G839G1831G1544G1417G1220G1325G3830G2532G2036G846G1959G846G2532G3748G302G4325G3165G1722G1880G1473G591G4671 36"Of these three men, who do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the bandits?"G5101G3767G5130G5140G1380G4671G1096G4139G1706G1519G3027 37He said, "The one who showed mercy to him." Jesus told him, "Go and do what he did."G1161G2036G4160G1656G3326G846G3767G2036G2424G846G4198G2532G4160G4771G3668 38Now as they were traveling along, Jesus went into a village. A woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.G1161G1096G1722G846G4198G2532G846G1525G1519G5100G2968G1161G5100G1135G3686G3136G5264G846G1519G846G3624 39She had a sister named Mary, who sat down at the Lord's feet and kept listening to what he was saying.G2532G3592G2258G79G2564G3137G3739G2532G3869G3844G2424G4228G191G846G3056 40But Martha was worrying about all the things she had to do, so she came to him and asked, "Lord, you do care that my sister has left me to do the work all by myself, don't you? Then tell her to help me."1039G1161G3136G4049G4012G4183G1248G1161G2186G2036G2962G3199G4671G3756G3199G3754G3450G79G2641G3165G1247G3441G2036G846G3767G2443G4878G3427 41The Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha! You worry and fuss about a lot of things.G1161G2424G611G2036G846G3136G3136G3309G2532G5182G4012G4183 42But there's only one thing you need. Mary has chosen what is better, and it is not to be taken away from her."G1161G1520G2076G5532G1161G3137G1586G18G3310G3748G851G3756G851G575G846
