24On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared.G1161G3391G4521G3722G901G2064G1909G3418G5342G759G3739G2090G2532G5100G4862G846 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb.G1161G2147G3037G617G575G3419 3They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.G2532G1525G2147G3756G4983G2962G2424 4While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood by them in dazzling clothes.G2532G1096G1722G846G1280G4012G5127G2532G2400G1417G435G2186G846G1722G797G2067 5So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground. "Why are you looking for the living among the dead?" asked the men.G1161G1096G846G1096G1719G2532G2827G4383G1519G1093G2036G4314G846G5101G2212G2198G3326G3498 6"He is not here, but He has been resurrected! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,G2076G3756G5602G235G1453G3415G5613G2980G5213G5607G2089G1722G1056 7saying, 'The Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day'?"G3004G3754G5207G444G1163G3860G1519G5495G268G444G2532G4717G2532G5154G2250G450 8And they remembered His words.G2532G3415G846G4487 9Returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven and to all the rest.G2532G5290G575G3419G518G3956G5023G1733G2532G3956G3062 10Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them were telling the apostles these things.G1161G2258G3137G3094G2532G2489G2532G3137G2385G2532G3062G4862G846G3739G3004G5023G4314G652 11But these words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women.G2532G846G4487G5316G1799G846G5616G3026G2532G569G846G569 12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. When he stooped to look in, he saw only the linen cloths. So he went home, amazed at what had happened.G1161G450G4074G5143G1909G3419G2532G3879G991G3608G2749G3441G2532G565G2296G4314G1438G1096 13Now that same day two of them were on their way to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.G2532G2400G1417G1537G846G2258G4198G1722G846G2250G1519G2968G3739G3686G1695G568G575G2419G1835G4712 14Together they were discussing everything that had taken place.G2532G846G3656G4314G240G4012G3956G5130G4819 15And while they were discussing and arguing, Jesus Himself came near and began to walk along with them.G2532G1096G1722G846G3656G2532G4802G2424G2532G846G1448G4848G846 16But they were prevented from recognizing Him.G1161G846G3788G2902G1921G3361G1921G846 17Then He asked them, "What is this dispute that you're having with each other as you are walking?" And they stopped [walking and looked] discouraged.G1161G2036G4314G846G5101G3056G3778G3739G474G4314G240G4043G2532G2075G4659 18The one named Cleopas answered Him, "Are You the only visitor in Jerusalem who doesn't know the things that happened there in these days?"G1161G1520G3739G3686G2810G611G2036G4314G846G4771G3441G3939G1722G2419G2532G1097G3756G1097G1096G1722G846G1722G5025G2250 19"What things?" He asked them. So they said to Him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people,G2532G2036G846G4169G1161G2036G846G4012G2424G3480G3739G1096G4396G1415G1722G435G2041G2532G3056G1726G2316G2532G3956G2992 20and how our chief priests and leaders handed Him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified Him.G3704G5037G749G2532G2257G758G3860G846G1519G2917G2288G2532G4717G846 21But we were hoping that He was the One who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it's the third day since these things happened.G1161G2249G1679G3754G2076G846G3195G3084G2474G235G1065G4862G3956G5125G4594G71G5026G5154G2250G575G3739G5023G1096 22Moreover, some women from our group astounded us. They arrived early at the tomb,G235G5100G1135G2532G1537G2257G1839G2248G1839G1096G3721G1909G3419 23and when they didn't find His body, they came and reported that they had seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.G2532G2147G3361G846G4983G2064G3004G3708G2532G3708G3701G32G3739G3004G846G2198 24Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they didn't see Him."G2532G5100G4862G2254G565G1909G3419G2532G2147G2532G3779G2531G1135G2036G1161G846G1492G3756 25He said to them, "How unwise and slow you are to believe in your hearts all that the prophets have spoken!G2532G846G2036G4314G846G5599G453G2532G1021G2588G4100G1909G3956G3739G4396G2980 26Didn't the Messiah have to suffer these things and enter into His glory?"G1163G3780G5547G3958G5023G2532G1525G1519G846G1391 27Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted for them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.G2532G756G575G3475G2532G575G3956G4396G1329G846G1722G3956G1124G4012G1438 28They came near the village where they were going, and He gave the impression that He was going farther.G2532G1448G1519G2968G3757G4198G2532G846G4364G4198G4208 29But they urged Him: "Stay with us, because it's almost evening, and now the day is almost over." So He went in to stay with them.G2532G3849G846G3004G3306G3326G2257G3754G2076G4314G2073G2532G2250G2827G2532G1525G3306G4862G846 30It was as He reclined at the table with them that He took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.G2532G1096G1722G846G2625G3326G846G2983G740G2127G2532G2806G1929G846 31Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him, but He disappeared from their sight.G1161G846G3788G1272G2532G1921G846G2532G846G1096G855G575G846 32So they said to each other, "Weren't our hearts ablaze within us while He was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?"G2532G2036G4314G240G2258G3780G2257G2588G2545G1722G2254G5613G2980G2254G1722G3598G2532G5613G1272G2254G1124 33That very hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem. They found the Eleven and those with them gathered together,G2532G450G846G5610G5290G1519G2419G2532G2147G1733G4867G2532G4862G846 34who said, "The Lord has certainly been raised, and has appeared to Simon!"G3004G3754G2962G1453G3689G2532G3700G4613 35Then they began to describe what had happened on the road and how He was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.G2532G846G1834G1722G3598G2532G5613G1097G846G1722G2800G740 36And as they were saying these things, He Himself stood among them. He said to them, "Peace to you!"G1161G846G5023G2980G2424G846G2476G1722G3319G846G2532G3004G846G1515G5213 37But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost.G1161G4422G2532G1719G1096G1380G2334G4151 38"Why are you troubled?" He asked them. "And why do doubts arise in your hearts?G2532G2036G846G5101G2075G5015G2532G1302G1261G305G1722G5216G2588 39Look at My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself! Touch Me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have."G1492G3450G5495G2532G3450G4228G3754G1510G1473G846G5584G3165G2532G1492G3754G4151G2192G3756G4561G2532G3747G2531G2334G1691G2192 40Having said this, He showed them His hands and feet.G2532G5124G2036G1925G846G5495G2532G4228 41But while they still could not believe because of [their] joy and were amazed, He asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"G1161G846G2089G569G575G5479G2532G2296G2036G846G2192G1759G5100G1034 42So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish,G1161G1929G846G3313G3702G2486G2532G575G3193G2781 43and He took it and ate in their presence.G2532G2983G5315G1799G846 44Then He told them, "These are My words that I spoke to you while I was still with you— that everything written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled."G1161G2036G846G3778G3056G3739G2980G4314G5209G5607G2089G4862G5213G3754G3956G1163G4137G3588G1125G1722G3551G3475G2532G4396G2532G5568G4012G1700 45Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.G5119G1272G846G3563G4920G1124 46He also said to them, "This is what is written: the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead the third day,G2532G2036G846G3754G3779G1125G2532G3779G1163G5547G3958G2532G450G1537G3498G5154G2250 47and repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.G2532G3341G2532G859G266G2784G1909G846G3686G1519G3956G1484G756G575G2419 48You are witnesses of these things.G1161G5210G2075G3144G5130 49And look, I am sending you what My Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high."G2532G2400G1473G649G1860G3450G3962G1909G5209G1161G2523G5210G1722G4172G2419G2193G3739G1746G1411G1537G5311 50Then He led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up His hands He blessed them.G1161G1806G846G1854G2193G1519G963G2532G1869G846G5495G2127G846 51And while He was blessing them, He left them and was carried up into heaven.G2532G1096G1722G846G2127G846G1339G575G846G2532G399G1519G3772 52After worshiping Him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.G2532G846G4352G846G5290G1519G2419G3326G3173G5479 53And they were continually in the temple complex blessing God.G2532G2258G1275G1722G2411G134G2532G2127G2316G281
