4Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,G1161G2424G4134G40G4151G5290G575G2446G2532G71G1722G4151G1519G2048 2being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.G3985G5062G2250G3985G5259G1228G2532G1722G1565G2250G5315G3756G3762G2532G846G4931G5305G3983 3And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."G2532G1228G2036G846G1487G1488G5207G2316G2036G5129G3037G2443G1096G740 4But Jesus answered him, saying, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'"G2532G2424G611G4314G846G3004G1125G3754G444G2198G3756G2198G1909G740G3441G235G1909G3956G4487G2316 5Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.G2532G1228G321G846G321G1519G5308G3735G1166G846G3956G932G3625G1722G4743G5550 6And the devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.G2532G1228G2036G846G537G5026G1849G1325G4671G2532G1391G846G3754G3860G1698G2532G3739G1437G2309G1325G846 7"Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours."G1437G4771G3767G4352G1799G3450G3956G2071G4675 8And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.'"G2532G2424G611G2036G846G5217G3694G3450G4567G1063G1125G4352G2962G4675G2316G2532G846G3441G3000 9Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.G2532G71G846G1519G2419G2532G2476G846G1909G4419G2411G2532G2036G846G1487G1488G5207G2316G906G4572G2736G1782 10"For it is written: 'He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,'G1063G3754G1125G1781G846G32G1781G4012G4675G1314G4571 11"and, 'In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.'"G2532G3754G1909G5495G142G4571G142G3379G4350G4675G4228G4314G3037 12And Jesus answered and said to him, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.'"G2532G2424G611G2036G846G3754G2046G1598G3756G1598G2962G4675G2316 13Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.G2532G1228G4931G3956G3986G868G575G846G891G2540

Jesus Begins His Galilean Ministry

14Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.G2532G2424G5290G1722G1411G4151G1519G1056G2532G1831G5345G4012G846G2596G3650G4066 15And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.G2532G846G1321G1722G846G4864G1392G5259G3956

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

16So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.G2532G2064G1519G3478G3757G2258G5142G2532G2596G846G1486G2596G1525G1519G4864G1722G4521G2250G2532G450G314 17And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:G2532G1929G846G975G4396G2268G2532G380G975G2147G5117G3757G2258G1125 18"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;G4151G2962G1909G1691G1752G5548G3165G2097G4434G649G3165G2390G4937G2588G2784G859G164G2532G309G5185G649G1722G859G2352 19To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD."G2784G1184G1763G2962 20Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.G2532G4428G975G591G5257G2523G2532G3788G3956G2258G1722G4864G816G846 21And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."G1161G756G3004G4314G846G3754G4594G4137G3778G1124G4137G1722G5216G3775 22So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, "Is this not Joseph's son?"G2532G3956G3140G846G3140G2532G2296G1909G5485G3056G3588G1607G1537G846G4750G2532G3004G2076G3756G3778G2501G5207 23He said to them, "You will surely say this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.'"G2532G2036G4314G846G2046G3843G2046G3427G5026G3850G2395G2323G4572G3745G191G1096G1722G2584G4160G2532G5602G1722G4675G3968 24Then He said, "Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.G1161G2036G281G3004G5213G3754G3762G4396G2076G1184G1722G846G3968 25"But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land;G1161G3004G5213G1909G225G4183G5503G2258G1722G2474G1722G2250G2243G3753G3772G2808G1909G5140G2094G2532G1803G3376G5613G3173G3042G1096G1909G3956G1093 26"but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.G2532G4314G3762G846G3992G2243G3992G1508G1519G4558G4605G4314G1135G5503 27"And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian."G2532G4183G3015G2258G1722G2474G1909G1666G4396G2532G3762G846G2511G1508G3497G4948 28So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,G2532G3956G1722G4864G191G5023G4130G2372 29and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff.G2532G450G1544G846G1854G4172G2532G71G846G2193G3790G3735G1909G3739G846G4172G3618G1519G2630G846G2630 30Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way.G1161G846G1330G1223G3319G846G4198

Jesus Casts Out an Unclean Spirit

31Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths.G2532G2718G1519G2584G4172G1056G2532G1321G846G2258G1722G4521 32And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.G2532G1605G1909G846G1322G3754G846G3056G2258G1722G1849 33Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice,G2532G1722G4864G2258G444G2192G4151G169G1140G2532G349G3173G5456 34saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!"G3004G1436G5101G2254G4671G2532G2424G3479G2064G622G2248G1492G4571G5101G1488G40G2316 35But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.G2532G2424G2008G846G3004G5392G2532G1831G1537G846G2532G1140G4496G846G1519G3319G1831G575G846G984G846G3367 36Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, "What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."G2532G1096G1909G3956G2285G2532G4814G4314G240G3004G5101G3056G3778G3754G1722G1849G2532G1411G2004G169G4151G2532G1831 37And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.G2532G2279G4012G846G1607G1519G3956G5117G4066

Peter’s Mother-in-Law Healed

38Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon's house. But Simon's wife's mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her.G1161G450G1537G4864G1525G1519G4613G3614G1161G4613G3994G2258G4912G3173G4446G2532G2065G846G4012G846 39So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.G2532G2186G1883G846G2008G4446G2532G863G846G3916G450G1161G1247G846

Many Healed After Sabbath Sunset

40When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.G1161G2246G1416G3956G3745G2192G770G4164G3554G71G846G4314G846G1161G2007G5495G2007G1538G1520G846G2323G846 41And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, "You are the Christ, the Son of God!" And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ.G1161G1140G2532G1831G575G4183G2896G2532G3004G3754G4771G1488G5547G5207G2316G2532G2008G1439G846G3756G2980G3754G1492G846G1511G5547

Jesus Preaches in Galilee

42Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them;G1161G1096G2250G1831G4198G1519G2048G5117G2532G3793G2212G846G2532G2064G2193G846G2532G2722G846G3361G4198G575G846 43but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent."G1161G2036G4314G846G3754G3165G1163G2097G932G2316G2087G4172G2532G3754G1519G5124G649 44And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.G2532G2258G2784G1722G4864G1056
